XR6 gets a good review, here are some qoutes.'We tried some roll on experiments, running the cars level to 60kph in 3rd gear, then flattening the go-fast pedal to see who hits 110kph first. The signs were bad for traditional values, with the turbo pulling away convincingly on each occasion.''As we refine our launch techniques , both cars run a series of 14.5-second passes at around 100mph. It is the XR6 that sets the best time, with a 14.2@97.5 mph.''It might sound like sacrilege, but Ford simply gave the little brother more muscle and less weight, and that combo is going to win every time.'Something else that was interesting were the dyno results, with both cars having identical power figures of 205kw at the rear wheels. Never before has there been a local built v8 with the levels of refinement that the new flacon BA has. And I am sure it will only get better, but my ford dealer did admit that everyone at the toowoomba dealer like the turbo better. Sounds better too he said. If I could change one thing it would be to give turbo a v8 note, I guess at least the xr8 has no turbo lag! Its a great car though. Still love the xr6T. HSE2 Member 322 Member For: 22y 5m 14d Location: Tasmania Posted 17/04/03 02:28 AM Share Posted 17/04/03 02:28 AM I haven't seen the article yet! Whats the real story. Is the suggestion that the Boss is overstated or the turbo understated or is neither being claimed. Guest Mr Walker Guests Posted 17/04/03 04:14 AM Share Posted 17/04/03 04:14 AM There may be some over/ understating but as has been suggested before, it takes more power to drive a heavier duty gearbox.
