years ago I knew a guy who owned a XYGT and unfortunately earned the nickname ankles after his flywheel did a similar thing, one piece went thru the back of the dash and came out near the rhs wiper arm and another piece went thru the floor and hit him in the ????? :spoton:

There's a lot to be said for steel flywheels and/or scattersheilds!

It wasn't the rpm that killed it, it would have let go after failure through heat cracks from running/riding/slipping a too harsh clutch, ie metallic or carbon button. (The old rule of thumb of go steel above 6000rpm still sounds good to me though.)
