called RAC to find a quick fix but he coudn't help - he even said that they're not allowed to pop the bonnets on BA fords, the owners have to!

any idea what ford charge to fix this?

Mate that sucks

I had it happen before. Luckily on mine it broke the holding lug at the interior release end. There was enough play to pull some more cable though and cut it back till I found the wire and got a pair of plyers on it and presto.

But it was not a ford.

Hope this helps you out

where is it broken? in the engine bay? or the plastic has come off the fuse box?

if its just the plastic and the fuse box you can get a couple of pair of pliers and hold the black sheath for the wire, then pull the wire out and this'll have the same effect as pulling the lever. you may be able to do it by hand.

If it's in the engine bay, I dont envy your position. you'll basically be wanting to pull off the stone tray and try to get your hand up from underneath, but even then you need to have an idea of what you're trying to get to at arms reach

good luck

I would be giving the nrma a ring, well if your a member. If not the wreckers. Those guys see everything and might have a little clue or tool that could save you some time and grief.

Spewing, I just bought my mates les paul. Grr too many hobbies and not enough cash. Keep it you will regret leting it go for $400

ps can you see the cable still conected behind the lever ?

Most of the time the cables just stretch and stop working after a while. I think a new cable from ford is pretty cheap
