hi everybody,

had my xr6t for just under a year now and have watched the forum for a while now.

tell me as a newbie with no mechanical nouse at all and even less dough - can you do mods in a staged manner over a period of time? and in which order would be the best for the car and income?

any assistance from the available knowledge in this forum would be fantastic.....

You will get lots of different thoughts and ideas on this and here are mine.

1) 2nd CAI and performance filter.

2) Remove center muffler

3) Get a custom tuned edit. At the same time get "Eugene" injectors and a high flow cat.

4) If its an auto have it strengthened and get a trans cooler fitted. If its manual, get an auto.

5) Bigger intercooler, bigger fuel pump.

6) have the engine strengthened. Billet rods and balanced and blueprinted.

7) Better intake plenum.

which 2nd CAI - f6 box or perhaps a SS unit what do you think?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

SS unit is crap. Just do a DIY. There are a couple of different options. The most popular would becutting a hole in the front of the airbox and installing an XR8 snorkle. Do a search and you'll find exactly how to do it.

Agreed...

Do the first 3 steps first and then if you need more... continue with the following steps. First three steps should cost you about $2500 total :spoton:

I had the standard brakes on both my cars and never had any issues. If you're driving responsibly on public roads standard brakes are fine.

That being said I have upgraded the brakes on "Rumble". I was finding that repeated stopping from 200kmph+ was becoming unpleasant with the standard stoppers when I was doing the 1/4 mile. I now have DBA 4000series slotted rotors with Ferodo Formula pads up front. These are a great improvement on the standard brakes and can be a DIY fit. The back brakes are still standard.
