Guest mercurysteve Guests Posted 30/03/05 10:54 PM Share Posted 30/03/05 10:54 PM Hi Y'allWell, what a long day it was for me yesterday . Cause I live so far away, I had to wait around at the HPF and do some work on the lappy. Got in there at 9am and left at 5.15pm!Here goes the run down;Firstly, once they ran the car up on the dyno, it pulled 202.9rwkw. For the record, my car has 24,000 clicks, is auto, with 2nd CAI, B&C Filter, 3" hi-flow cat back system. That result is worth making a note of simply because a few people doubted Dyno Wog's result when he dyno'd my car a few weeks ago and pulled 207rwkw. So they are pretty close to on par , both dyno dynamics dyno's I believe. Then some dramas came over the day.1) The power supply on their CAPA software (of certain voltage) blew up! 2) They tried for a few hours to get another whilst the car just sat there on the dyno (nothing they could do at this stage) 3) They got it powered up using a Nokia Charger!!!!!4) During the Edit, 2 CAPA boxes shorted out!!! As you all can imagine, I was feeling a bit tested. However, the guys there are great and they kept me updated all the time. They really did look after me.Once they finally began editing, there were some dramas with the boost spikes, the graph on nearly every run was literally up/down/up/down in a zig zag style whilst still hitting reasonable numbers. They then they worked on getting a good result with a smooth graph rather than the zig zagged mess that kept appearing. At 5pm, it was done! All good and I was out of laptop battery to let you all know the results. 241.3rwkw at low revs, say 3000, there is upto an extra 45rwkw on tap! Drives sooooo much better now. Much smoother, more linear power delivery, more response from the tranny. Just a really nice thing now. No urges or surging to date.Final report to HPF is they are A+ in my book. Great set up, result.ALSO, Met JB in person and without him getting a big head, he's a great bloke and has been quite helpful to me on many posted questions over the past few months. So to him and you all.For the record, They did reach the limits of both Valve springs (9pound boost) and injectors. So This is it for me for at least 6 months until I am married late this year. Next year though.... Haha Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/16686-mercury-steve-gets-edited-the-results/ Share on other sites

Could someone reply to let me know it is working correctly? I can see it without any drama, maybe I've done something wrong? Guest mercurysteve Guests Posted 30/03/05 11:06 PM Share Posted 30/03/05 11:06 PM Thanks DOHC, Cost was $1297, for development reasons, they are not charging for their labour, so the custom tuning was essentially a freebie The car is well sorted now, I'll take you for another drive soon, you will notice a big difference. Would replacing the factory CAT with a high flow unit yield extra power or at this stage it is fine for the power level? So the system maxed at 9psi, what reached the limits first the injectors or springs? Did you change the shift firmness on the auto? if so how does it feel ? Guest mercurysteve Guests Posted 30/03/05 11:50 PM Share Posted 30/03/05 11:50 PM Good Q's Fr33dy,Yep, at 9psi the springs were maxed out apparently. At around 245plus, the injectors were maxed out too.Yep, I have a hi-flow cat already, not sure if it made any difference though, only way to find out would be to whack the old exhaust on. I asked for the auto changes to be firmed up, appears to be better, definately better when changing in manual mode. Although, the extra power probably makes it feel better regardless.
