planet Member 18 Member For: 21y 1m 22d Posted 23/04/05 06:55 AM Share Posted 23/04/05 06:55 AM I'v got Dunlop Sp3000a's on the front end of my car, only done about 5000k's and both already have cracks going the whole way across the tread. I called Tanya on the number 'CRO' gave and she said to go to Beaurepairs. The guy there claimed that he had never heard of any problems with these tyres but said he would replace them with me paying for the tread I had used. Seems like quite a few people are getting new ones for free, do you reckon I have any chance seeing as they're not on a new Falcon under warranty?Thing is, I don't want more Sp300a's, since I got them I've only heard bad things. I've heard good things about the Michelin Precedas and luckily the guy at Bob Janes' in Claremont (WA) where I got them said it wouldn't be a problem to pay a bit extra and get them instead. Does anyone have an opinion on whether Precedas are the right direction to go in (Pilot Sport 2's were about double the price so I'm counting them out). This is to protect me from being told I ran over something sharp. I will also arm myself with the fact that the tyres are warrantable, by Ford and by dunlop. The fact that Dunlop know they are defective, and that it is unroadworthy and dangerous and Dunlop cannot expect me to pay for their mistake with 1. my money and 2. my life should they fall apart on the freeway. If they believe they won't come appart, then I will demand they put in writing a statement clearly showing that they ackowledge they are safe, and should they delaminate because of the split, they will be liable for all damages. planet Member 18 Member For: 21y 1m 22d Posted 10/05/05 03:52 AM Share Posted 10/05/05 03:52 AM I've now got Preceda's on my car, not without a few headaches though.I went in for the appointment with the Dunlop rep which was supposed to be 10am, 11:30 rolls around and he's still not there. the poor guy at Bob Janes has been trying his mobile but he isn't even answering it. Evenually he calls saying he's 5 mins away, over an hour and a half late! didn't let me know beforehand that he was going to be late or anything. COME ON DUNLOP, COMMON COURTESY?After this absolute waste of my time they still charge me for the little bit of tread I had used (less than 20%) and the rep had left so I couldn't even argue with him about how fair that was after wasting my time waiting for him. Also, get a depth guage and measure your tread wear before going in and do your sums as to how much it should cost you. I was told that the 1.5mm I had used was 25% or the original 8mm? Anyone got a calculator? it's leass than 20% and about $30.00 difference.Dunlop also said the problem was purely cosmetic and posed no risk whatsoever, not sure how true that is?On the up side the Preceda's are heaps better, more traction, more comfortable ride, less noise... well worth the $60 or so more.DON"T BUY Sp3000a's, and given the customer 'service' I had to endure STEER CLEAR OF DUNLOP

I am not paying for 1 new tyre, I'd like all 4 tyres to be the same, so it can wait untill the canvas is showing. Then its on to Michelin!

Aeron Member 194 Member For: 20y 8m 20d Location: Sydney Posted 15/07/05 03:30 AM Share Posted 15/07/05 03:30 AM I took my car to Ford today and they said when I take my car in for the 15,000Km service next Wednesday, they'll get the Dunlop rep to come out and replace all 4 of them for nothing. So yeh, that's good.
