mickq Member 740 Member For: 21y 8m 13d Posted 17/12/05 01:11 PM Share Posted 17/12/05 01:11 PM I got the exact same crap story a year or so ago.Said 'you must have driven over something straight, like a piece of tin or similar that cut into it like a knife"What a load of sh*t. As I get my tyres for free I didnt argue, but I wasnt impressed. They looked IDENTICAL to the photos that were posted here. It is clearly a flaw in the tyres. Mine has also done this on the rear (Only one tyre so far I believe) I asked a tyre place and they said, "no mate, you've driven over something that has cut it, you need to buy new tryes to replace them !" at which point I drove out and figured I could live with it as the tyres are almost buggered anyhow!I guess I should have taken it further, but didn't bother.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Even when I haven't washed the car after a dirt road, and the exhaust heat sheild is ripped apart so much it's almost touching the ground. They fixed it every time..Mind you, I've also buckled 3 17" rims on dirt roads...

Found thes on the Fronts.......... bloody glad that I did as I had planned to drive 4,000km in the next month or so with the whole family in the car. I take it theis is the sidewall splitting you are talking about?? Rears have only minor splits. Oh yeah 27,000kms and 2 years old.Problem solvered............ 4 x new tyres at Ford's expense. $38.50 for a front wheel alignment. 27,000 kms on and brand new tyres for nix, wuhu!! Dunlop have changed manufacturing process and the latest tyres have been fixed.Guys - ANY STRANGE CUTS ACROSS THE TYRES IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT AND YOU SHOULD JUST TAKE THEM BACK. This is just in case I have trouble with the tyres and the Ford dealer. Its definetly not an isolated problem. Tell them you found that you should check the tyres from a Ford forum. It definetly had the dealer curious when I found the rust in the boot. Where did you hear about the rust to go looking??So the tyres fall into exactly the same catagory.
