The tyres seem to be splitting over the top of the tread.I noticed this issue on my first XR but didn't do anything about it because the tyres were finished anyway (rears). On this XR I got Michelin Pilot Preceda's for the front as soon as I got the car, leaving the Dunlop SP3000A's on the rear. At about 25000kms I noticed I had a split in two of the dunlops but didn't worry about it because the tyres were due for replacment in a week or so.I put the original dunlops that used to be on the front (were sitting in garage for a while) on the rear and 6,000kms later I noticed one of them was split again.Well that was the least of my worries because I also found out both my rear rims were buckled.I got beaurepairs (dunlop agents) to replace the split tyre on a prorated rate (had to pay for % used).I then got them to put the new tyre on buckled rim in the boot to use as a spare, and use the spare on the passenger side leaving me with only one buckled rim on the road.Well today 5,000kms later I discovered both my rear tyres were split again. So that makes all 5 tyres (inc spare) that came with the car + the tyre that beaurepairs gave me were effected by this problem. In any case I'm getting a cheque from Dunlop for the two SP3000A's I have on the rear (be using it to buy a new rim), and I'm getting Michelin Pilot Preceda's put on the rear finally!!If you have this problem, speak to dunlop/goodyear customer service about it. Tanya helped me out, and you can get her on 1800 809 514. It helps if all complaints come to the one person.I've attached some pics of my latest splits... Whats also alarming is the amount of xr rims that are buckled, you mentioned you had 2, one of mine is and I havnt hit anything with it.Dazza.
