I called thje ford guy today to get a definate date to pick up my new T, being easter and all and I have a hectic work schedule. He said your in luck mate it rolled off the truck this morning. Great I though I will go have a look at or new sexy beast and get some details from it so I can organise the insurance early.

Walking towards the T I noted.

Silhouette - check

18's Wheels - check

Premium sound system - check

Manual transmission - WHAT THE F$@K!!!!!! THIS SON OF A b**ch IS AN AUTO!!!!!!!!!

The ford guy looked just as shocked as I was and we hurried back inside to check over the order. All ok. Some dimwitted idiot had pushed a wrong button somewhere when it went into production and it got built as an auto.

After some frantic phone calls I was told I can either take the auto without cost and an additional $1500 worth of free extras or wait another 4.5 months for another car.

What did we do. Since neither my fiancee or myself had driven a turbo and the only BA we tested was an XT. We decided to take the dealers auto turbo for a test drive and then a NA manual as they didnt have a turbo demo in a 5 speed.

We decided to take the auto as we didnt like the shift quality, clutch, clunk in the drivetrain from the manual and it had done only 4000km.

Although we are still mystified at how this happened as I know I am not the only person on this forum who has had the problem.

Well they say some things happen for a reason, whoever the hell they are.

What accessories are you going to spend the 1500 bucks on? Alarm, tinted windows......

I'd be happy with that... a $900 auto for free, and free tint, alarm, and protection pack... lol.

Wish they'd stuffed MINE up like that - I'm getting sick of the manual clunking around like it does, with only 8000km on it... :(

I know most people are fairly one eyed when it comes to the transmission type they prefer, but no cost and $1500 worth of extras. :oooh: You got to happy with that sort of appology. :oooh:

Isn't there a deal going at the moment where you get $1500 worth of accessories for only a couple of hundred bucks, Freedom Pack I think it's called? Sounds like the dealer is tying to scam you...

l think you could be right Falchoon, how low is that?

Maybe you can get $3000 of extras for $500; tell them you want to take the freedon pack as well as their $1500 offer. l wonder what reaction you would get?

turb06 is the auto that bad ?You get to know how to use it in manual mode and its fine , stuck in traffic , chuck it in auto bewdefull.

We did test drive both after the shock of seing the self shifter in the car. And as I said in my original posting we did prefer the auto over the manual.

I have already got alot of options in the car also. When they said the $1500 worth of free options I was aware of the freedom pack, but I was impressed with the fact that they offered me this stuff anyway and the salesman Gary did everything he said he was going to do, which I would like to point out it was not the dealers fault, but a mistake made during production at the plant. So I didnt feel ripped off. My fiancee and I have only been able to spend $600 of it so far and are having trouble with the rest.

Does anyone know how much the extended waranty is?
