I know a 17 year old whos had his licence for a month. He had a prang in a park the other day at 40 KPH and hit a tree with three others in the car. He is going to be chareged by the police with "drving with undue care and attention". All passengers were not hurt. He broke his leg.

Has anybody got any ideas on what the penalties could be?

QLD by the way.

cheers

Dallas

Dallas,

You may be best to call the local highway patrol to find out.

Its best to know from the right sources as I would say it will be serious

Apart from being charged with gross stupidity, he may also face driving charges. Remind me, but aren't parks where kids go and play!

A park? Was it on a public road? Or did he run off the road into a park? If he wasn't on a public road he can't be charged with that offence. But there are still other offences he could face so ... it's a no win situation for him I'm afraid. As for the penalty, in NSW it would be three months cancellation but who knows in QLD???

Back in the days of my less than considerate driving the judges were armed with a chart which he used to determine the penalty, but lots of new rules about nowadays

I was charged with that when I was younger and less resposible  I hit a traffic island with my front wheels full lock to the left, got airborne and scraped a traffic light pole, causing no harm or damage to anything but my car, ironic thing was it was 3:00am and the only car that saw me do it was the police stopped at the traffic lights  Anyway I got a 3 point $250 fine and a f*cked car. Things may have changed though.

Dallas. It really comes down to how good of a mood the judge is in, and also if it is an area where the judge sees alot of d!ckheads who street race, do burnouts etc. They have a much less tollerence for any sign of stupidity behind the wheel in these areas. He can expect anywhere from 6-12 month suspension of licence and anywhere north of $500 fine.

Don't know bout the park thing bud, but it will really come down to the judge. Best of luck.

I myself got booked on thursday cause my licence had expired. $370! WTF! It expired on the 15th of march and I didn't even know. I can't even remember getting a letter to say it needs renewal.

I was at the RTA on the 7th of march to pick up my number plates after some goober stoll my last set, they didn't say anything back then.

Why would anyone at the RTA do anything extra to help you out, that would demonstrate initiative and good customer service, things I fear they are not trained in.
