Well, after many hours of dismantling, grinding, cutting, retro-fitting and shopping at Supercheap Auto, ms700 and I finally installed my PWR intercooler. This thread is to not crap on about power gains, but to merely inform anyone interested in these intercoolers, that they are NOT a simple bolt-in replacement. This is to not take away from the intercooler itself, as I do believe it's a very good unit. Anyway, some of the mods required were as follows.

1) Grind passanger side I.c. mounting bracket

2) Cut and grind drivers side I.c. mounting bracket.

3) Grind front crossmember to allow for cooler to fit without any contact.

4) Shorten intercooler top hose.

5) Move powersteering cooler from from underneath radiatior, to behind crossmember (this was done by reversing the brackets around)

6) Cut/modify the black undersplash tray to allow for the power steering coolers new location.

7) Relocate horn.

The only other thing we need to do is change the cut upper I.c. hose to a proper piece of silicon turboflex piping as the standard hose has kinked a fair bit.

The intercooler looks quite good in the flesh, the upper pipe is very visible throught he upper grill. I hope it reduces the amount of power lost during hot weather but it may be a while before I found out now as the weather is cooling down quite a bit. I also want to have the Xede re-tuned.

I'll post some pictures so you can see how it's mounted. I'll also include a picture that shows you the difference between the stock cooler and the PWR unit. If anyone has any questions I'll try to answer then as best I can about the install.

Rob

Big Mick and his handy grinding skillz. Thanks Mick :spoton:

In Mick's hand is the passenger side I.c. mounting bracket which needed modifying.

This picture shows the lower part of the front crossmember(driver's side) which had to be ground away. This wasn't the finished product, as we had to grind away heaps more for the cooler to fit. I haven't heard of anyone else having to do this, it may vary from car to car, but if it wasn't modified, the cooler would be touching the crossmember which I didn't really want.

Who is that dodgy looking bastard holding onto that bracket? :ermm: :o :o

It definately wasn't a 5 minute exercise. Bolt in my @$$! We probably trial fitted it 30 times; remove cooler to see where it fouls and grind or modify, trial fit cooler again, etc etc. It isn't something that could be done on your own easily either.

But it looks fantastic in the flesh, certainly sticks out more than the standard cooler! :spoton:
