At their best, hiding behind a pole? Far out the pole is skinnier than the cop.

Maybe they are there incase someone looses control of their car and comes towards them. I know I'd rather be behind a pole than directly get hit by the car...

You should see where the cops hide out around goulburn. In the medium strip right up behind a bush, up on a hwy on-ramp, in both cases you don't see them till they are in your rear view or side view mirrors.

I should have taken more photos, there are a number of trees leading up to that point, you'd never see them standing were he was. Also he wasn't gunning anyone at the time, 30sec before he was scooched behind it staying out of sight.

I thought the whole point of speed enforcement was to get people to slow down, since driving at the speed limit makes you impervious to death apparently. If they could be seen people would slow down, right? Objective achieved.

Thing is, on the gateway bridge they wacked up two huge digital signs that scroll "POLICE SPEED ENFORCEMENT" across it, and EVERYONE slowed down to 60kmh to go through the eToll. Not one fine was issued and everyone did the speed limit.

They have taken them down, and now every belts through at 90kmh or more (including me). They are gearing up for fixed cameras in the tolls. And that will result in 2 things.

No one will slow down, and two, every one is going to inviluntarily fund the queensland goverment some more.

I think its funnier when you see two or three of them hiding in the bus shelter pointing the camera through the peek window....

I hope they not training the Iraqi police to do this stuff cause they might get a taste of apple pie and 5.56mm.............
