Hi Pretzel,

I'm very keen on this and hope this little tool can help you out.

http://www.scantool.ca/?

Don't know how to connect to display but it already reads most of the sensors your talking about.  And it runs directly of the Ford PCM

I had other plans for this little tool but have'nt got time at the moment.

Let me know what you think.

Macka,

Do you have one of these tools? or have you seen one working on a falcon?

Thanks

Mitch

Thanks Macka,

I'll look into this tool, and see if it can be the interface into the ECU I use.

John,

Thanks for the link, I'll look into that too.

Currlently the physical display used is the in dash LCD in the car, and I am using a laptop to drive it whilst testing and sorting it all out !

Hey Pretzel

I don't know how much processing power you'd need to make the thing work, but if your going down the PC route have you considered getting a hole heap of older PC's and using them instead of buying completely new??? (at least at the start to reduce inital costs to get the idea off the ground)

Reason why I ask is that there are a whole lot of old PC's out there which no one wants any more but are still working fine, you'd be able to get one (or 100's)cheap and change that around to fit in the car...

Just an idea to get the guages on the ICC cheap... (btw if you got the costs down to a couple of hundred sign me up)

(BTW I'm right now building a media box and I'm planning to use old PC's for most of the components for it as they are very cheap and still work with no probs...)

I had thought about that, but the problem is the footprint you end up with... I am aiming at it not taking up any 'passenger' space in the car, which makes it hard with the older sytle boards.

At this stage if I go with the option I am thinking it will fit in the dash, and have a DVD slot much like the CD one, just below the ICC (In the tissue holder)

But once we work out exactly what we need (For only gauges not a great deal of processing, but for DVD much higher to have good quality playback etc..) I'll be able to better see about older bits.

In any case the bit to interface it to the display is a couple of hundred..... So I doubt the solution can be anywhere close to that !

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it !

Not sure if this is of any help to you.......

http://norcom.net.au/~bpt/can_scan_tool.htm

It's a link to Batten's Performance Tuning in W.A. They been mentioned on this forum for the CAI setup they sell. They have authorised dealers in other states too

I'd be very keen to get the digital instruments in my XR6T however my upper limit would be $500.

Wish you all the best in getting something happening, I think it's an awesome idea.
