With all these posts going on about GT4, I've been doing a bit of looking on the internet for prices and what's included etc.

Now, as I understand from what I have read so far, there is a new generation PS2 which is only 1 inch thick and half the weight of its predecessor which now also includes an ethernet port.

I'm interested in knowing if you can do similar things with this version of the PS2 as with the xbox I.e install a mod chip allowing you to put in bigger HDD's, run linux, watch videos across your network etc?

mbj,

Yes you can mod chip them, but that is so you can play burnt (pirated) games.

The PS2 is not PC based like the XBox, so there is not much that can be done as far as installing linux, etc.

I dunno as mine is OLD (bout 4 years). I have seen a deal with the ps2, GT4 and a wheel for $299 at EB. I bought the wheel and GT4 for $170.

It is worth every cent.

its a bit of a biatch to fit the Hard Drive in the slims so most people leave em outside of the PS2 slim ... it can be done though at the begining people were buying up the old model cause they were worried ... but it only took em a month or so to work it out ....

So I'm assuming that there are no HDD's in them to start with? If not, do you need those stupid memory card things to store saved games?
