Hi Guy's,

Anyone interested in hacking into the Ford PCM. :o

It's beyond my knowledge but I may have found the tools to start it off.

OBDII Scan Tool and conections

And PDF info on the J1850 protocol and Lan interfaces.

Now get to work reading and decompiling the source. You should be finished in a few years.

Yipeee!!!

just stumbled across a hand held programmer.

It can change rpm, speed, transmittion shift points, tuning parameters.

It also has data logging. :k24t: something that the SCT software does'nt

And its working on the 2005 Mustang GT.

The 2005 Mustang PCM is different to our PCM. Ours is some sort of combination of the Mustang/Lincoln etc & the EEC.

Basically they're not the same PCM.

A mate of mine has a 2 Cousins who work for Ford in the UK, one is involved in engine management design & the other is in development of body/chassis

I've also been speaking with 1 company in Europe & 3 companies in the US & what I can gather so far they are different to the ones in the US.

I do know that there is one company developing program to PCM direct from PC.

Ofcourse that's what people talk about......Not being able to use existing hardware...

Except the hardware is compatible (CAN Bus is quite well documented et al) and it's the software used to talk tot he ECU that is complex. I'd wager a SCT box from the US could be programmed by a Edit Customer Tuner here without a worry....

Ofcourse that means you'd be able to buy teh SCT programming kit from the US and use it on your BA right? Nup - becuase the software they ship with it wouldn't have a clue about the configuartion of the Falcon motor (Boost parameters etc etc). You wouldn't get a pretty working interface etc etc.....

That's where CAPA etc had to put their money..... the Software, and that's why they're very keen to protect it - unlike the GM Edit which is running rife around the place.

This is ofcourse pure supposition.... I have a new bit of CANBus access/interface gear coming in a month or twoish and I think it will be fun to see how it goes.... :)

Like Macka it's not about the end result but about the journey :)

A.

Macka are your tools compatible with CAN?

Im not 100% sure but, I think OBDII comes in many different types(pin configurations and transfer styles?) and the OBDII interace using can, is not compatible with most OBDII scan tools out there.

Please prove me wrong, if I am inccorect that means we should be able to run live diagnostics with products that have already been developed...and maybe other stuff
