Guest esky Guests Posted 14/04/03 10:53 PM Share Posted 14/04/03 10:53 PM I’m just seeing if there is an interest in a fordxr6turbo track day down at Wakefield Park raceway. Why Wakefield Park? Because it’s the best track for beginners, as it’s virtually impossible to hit anything if you stuff up. There are generous run grass offs, kitty litter at the end of straights. It’s not a high speed track, a stock XR6T may hit around the 160km/h down the straight.Having raced there for years I’m happy to drive you around the track first and show you good racing lines, where to brake…. Not being an expert, if someone with more experience, ie C3 or something, can do it better than me, then great!Where is Wakefield Park? 10mins from Goulburn. So I guess it’s also a good reason to for the Sydney and Canberra people to meet up.I wont go into to much detail, as I’m just checking the interest level.esky

On a serious note though with this sort of conditions etc how likely are you to need new brakes after the track day... and whats the rough cost for replacement? Put me down as an interested party, just need to know approx cost. Have done a couple of track days at Eastern Creek on the motorbike and it is the most fun you can possibly have. You dont need to worry about traffic coming the other way, Constable Plod or changing road surface. All you need to concentrate on is the next corner and you machine. I think it has made me a better rider on the road also, as I am more aware of my bikes capabilities.I would recommend this to anyone, as its not a race, you only need to go as fast as youwant to (and also as fast as your abilities allow). Its a bit daunting at first, but you soon get the hang of it, and realise that everyone else is there to have fun.
Guest esky Guests Posted 15/04/03 12:57 AM Share Posted 15/04/03 12:57 AM Guys, if you are worried about your insurance, then just come down and watch.Wakefield is a great track to get your feet wet. At all times on the track you can see at least 2 or 3 corners ahead of you. No excuses for not seeing someone. There are no more then 6 cars on the track at once. There is heaps of overtaking room, and it’s not a fast track. I have no doubt after meeting some of you hoons at the dyno day, you’ll go faster on the Hume on the way down. There will be provision for newbies, to learn their car and the track. Faster guys will have session at different times. You’ll probably be out there for 6 laps at a time. That way your brakes last the difference. Then come back in and chat with other enthusiasts. $ wise, you need to buy a Wakefield license, that last 1 year. And a day fee. You'll need a helmet and long pants and a long shirt. If you don't have a helmet, you can hire one. esky
