The standard cat is good - there is no point to changing it in isolation.

My son's ute was tested with so-called high flow cats on his standard system and none were as good as his original.

Unless you change the dump pipe using a separate waste dump I don't think anything is to be gained from a high-flow standard diameter cat. You really need to go up in size and increase the tube size throughout the system to get a benefit from changing the cat.

This is getting confusing; I thought I read somewhere replacing the CAT improved output by around 10kw on a stock T. I have pasted a link on some exhaust testing and the system was a 3 inch system, but replacing the standard CAT with Hi-Flow Unit will add less back pressure? This I assume will allow you to create the same level of power with less boost?

I think what Turbo6man was trying to say is.

The standard system is good and has been proven by Nizpro that the standad exhaust system can support 300 - 310 rwkw. My own car has 305 rwkw and is still running the standard cat.

Overall power gain would be very little. You would'nt notice 10 rwkw at that level of power and most likely would notice it at 250 rwkw either.

My suggestion to you, would be to put the money into a bigger and better flowing intercooler. The engine will appreciate this more than a bigger cat.
