I too am on a company car scheme, where they pay me a wad of money each month have a new vehicle.

In my single days I had little sports cars, and then the inevitable marriage and kids and suddenly everything has to be practical :ermm:

Well 10 years of practical and I'm due for another car upgrade. I spent 18 months shortlisting and evaluating cars. Mid way thru I had a weekend long demo of a normal XR6. Surprisingly the wife made it easy by putting the XR6 at the top of my shortlist. Then Ford had a special deal going on the turbo that made it the same price as the standard XR6. (Only at the time the XR6 NA was being specialed too, but the wife didn't need to know that :ermm: )

And 3 weeks later we had the beast sitting in our garage.

Every time I see it in the garage or at my car park at work, I smile, coz that means it's time for me to drive some more :nono:

For me it was history repeating itself...dad has had numerous Falcon's over the years, with the best one being an XC with a 351 in it...gee, I miss that one..anyway, my last Falcon was a stock EB, which for some strange reason always had more balls than it should have, but it also had the generic problems all the other Falcon's had at the time.

I then switched to the Jap/Euro cars for a while, until I got given a Crummydore at my old job - gee I hated that one with a real passion. My dad and brothers used to laugh at me all the time as they knew it was eating me up having to drive it - I suppose the only good thing about it was that everything was free...

Anyway, when the new BA series came out and it got such a huge rap, I test drove a few except for the T and was close to getting an XR8. I was set to go down and do the purchase but then I changed jobs at the time as well and then put things off. When I did go back to the dealer, he had no XR8's around, so I thought I'd try the T. Well, the rest my friends is history....hopefully, the T will be around in 15-16 years so my boys can enjoy it the same way I used to enjoy the old man's cars.

I have allways been a Ford Man, I spent much of my youth and money on restoring a 74 Burnt Orange XB back to original. After it I did not like many of the models that have come through, but would have liked a lowered worked White xD 351 with slotters, now that was a horn car.

Since the ford I have had a Toyota Seca (great car), Honda Integra (good car dear to service), an 2001 Audi A4 V6 tip (biggest heap of crap ever owned, allways in your pocket) and now the XR8.

THIS FORUM PUT ME OFF BUYING A T

I still have no diff clunk, no brake shudder, no stalling, no issues at all.

I get in turn the key and it starts everytime

When the lease is up in 2 and a bit years I will look at the turbo offfering, but will be checking out this site b4 making any decision :nono:

I'm gonna stand out like dogs balls here :gooff:

Don't like Fords, even though my first car was one.

Have no need for a sedan, much prefer a coupe.

Don't tow anything.

Altho its a fun car to drive and performs better than I expected thru the twisties. Given the current level of faults and the way they are handled, I'll never drive another Ford again, regardless of how quick it is.

The XR6T was the best choice available on our list of operational lease cars so I got one :gooff:

I loved it from the second I saw one...

Took it (and a few others) for a test drive and decided that it was the car for me.

It is sporty, fast, good acceleration, and can still get my mates into the back when running down the coast... :spoton::w00t2::w00t2:

The other cars that I drove were a Late model camira SV6 and a Mazda 6 (just so I could say I had an open mind), but neither of those 2 cars came close to the XR6T... Also the Display with primo sound didn't hurt

Also for those who are wondering I have just picked up my new car... (I put into a few posts that I was still waiting...)

Performance and Handling!

I wanted something with more potential than my previous car (390rwhp VT LS1 Commodore). I drove test drove a VZ SS M6, VZ R8 (LS2) and the Mk1 XR6T 5 speed. I was sold on the XR6T. It handles better than either of the Commodores and has more torque down low :spit:

What's more, it has a heap more potential for power while remaining 100% EPA legal. Sure, you can bang a blower on a V8 or do a head/cam package and get the same power as a modded XR6T, but here in WA forced induction is illegal on a V8 without EPA certification, and I'm so over the big cam noise of the V8 (my VT LS1 V8 was one of those).

I like the silent but violent approach  The 'T' has the potential to make 400rwkw with nominal amount of modifications but remain a sleeper off boost.
