I think it retails for $8k, you would be looking at $5k. Same Boat as JB here, I can get Panasonic gear for between 50 and 70% or RRP anytime....Completely Legit with Warranty Receipt in your name etc...For those wondering out thereLumpy

Its been a while. Are you coming to Melbourne in a couple of weeks for the HiFi Show (for want of a better description)? The Pioneer does get good wraps, seems to be the one brand l havent been able to suss out locally. l hope there maybe some bargains at the show, but l am probably just dreaming there. l have seen some Sony, Yamaha and Hitachi screens and to me the LG is pretty good compared to them. The LG l am looking about has been around for only 6 weeks and is reputed to be a big improvement over the model it replaced. Will check into Pioneer as l know how well you would have researched before taking the plunge LCD is not for me, screens are too small for the money. CRT, RPTV etc all too big. We want slim and unobtrusive hence Plasma offers the best compromise on screen size vs quality vs size. For all the other advice, its appreciated. LG seems to draw polarised responses from people for some reason. l am under no illusions that the LG plasma l am looking at is midrange and that's about all l am looking for.JB, well what can l say, PM sent Cheers<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Agree Simon, lcd are over priced for screen size and actual picture quality with fast moving action scenes they are still not that good at all, sluggish as others have suggested, response time is the problem. Even though they have low power consumption and long life I still dont like em on anything other than a PC. Zeke shares my thought exactly, have viewed the latest Pioneer a number of times on HD TV and dvd and its quite stunning and the Pana equivalant is very good also. Seem to be I'm a sucker for good brand name and have had nothing but great service and minimal probs from brand name products, cannot comment on LG as have only ever stuck with Pioneer and Panasonic type brands. When released a few months ago the Pioneer was retailing for around $10k now they can be had for $8k, Id be pumping some big Melb retailer for $7.5k cash, or get them to throw in a HD box or dvd recorder, you never know, unless someone here can do better, which would be great, I'll be at the show, might see you there.Cheers Rob

Its available now for $5500 down from $16k a year ago. Some even prefer it to Plasma, sounds intriguing and the screen size is HUGE. May have to check it out also next week. Anyone own one of these monsters?
