All this talk about IT. But is it a real job. Our computers always have faults, our IT guys must be useless.

big difference between SAP consultant and ERP systems, and computer technicians fixing desktop computers.

Is it hard to get into the cadetships at the mines? A friend of mine (a diesel mechanic) said its very hard to get into roles in either QLD or WA without tickets or a usable professional background. He worked in WA for three years and although he said it was poor conditions he has now paid off one house and is now building units on a second

ud be silly to apply without tickets. getting my HR, forklift, excavator, backhoe, front end loader, bobcat, traffic management all for free as im still upskilling (apprentice). when im nearly finished ill be ringing up my mates boss n see what he can do for me for a job. aiming for a TA to begin with then go from there. definitely pays off in the long run, if u can put up with the conditions, lots of money to be earnt

Yeah I've applied for about 60 jobs over there related to Lab work but because I work in the PVC plastic industry and it's not related to Geology its apparently an entirely different kettle of fish :banghead:

Probably wouldn't pass the medical either. If they check for colour blindness I'll probably only be good as a cleaner or cook lol
