I took my car into the local dealer the other day who was going to do a nice price on the XR6T driveaway, but then they turned around and offered me $22000 for my wrx so I told them politely were to go. :gooff:

I have been speaking to the local performance mechanic who has done a lot of work on my car and he told me to put my wrx in his window for sale for $32000ono.

Then I will be going to perth with the cash to pick an XR6T

with:

18 inch wheels

leather

alarm

passenger airbag

prestige sound

hard cover and wing

6 speed manual

For $45500 drive away!

The dealer wants me to sign up now as the car will take 5- 6 weeks to arrive and he thinks I should sell my car before then.

Is it worth the risk, should I order now befor eI have sold my car?

I am still unsure of which colour to get either black or lightning strike, I have been told that these two colours will have better resale value!

What does everyone think?

If you can put up with the parade of time wasters and dreamers; try and sell it privately. You'll spend plenty of time on the phone and waiting for people who don't even turn up.Not much fun but you might get lucky.

Price of the new car is pretty good almost worth letting a few grand go on the Rex and no hassles.Got lightning strike looks ok but love black, bought silver for ease of maintainence.Have a black and silver Triton ute and the black half shows a lot of marks but it is a work bus.

When I have bought my cars, I have always orderd new before selling old. Just tell the dealer you will take delivery once your car is sold. If it sits in the dealers for a few weeks, it wont matter.

I wouldn't have even tried to trade it to a dealer. I tried that when I sold my T and they also came back with a pathetic offer just as they have done for you. I managed to sell mine through the trading post in 3 weeks which wasn't too bad. I for one will not be trading to a dealer anytime soon!!

The question you should ask yourself is can you afford to have both cars. If not then selling the WRX before you order would be a good idea.

if I was you I would sell before I buy...but I have a wife, two kids, a dog and a huge mortgage to also pay for. I tried to sell my 98 EL XR8 on carpoint before buying and with no luck...ended up trading it in and wearing the trade in price (which was crap).

I now have a black T and love the colour when its clean...nothing beats it (I think)

but you have to be at it all the time and cringe if its out in the rain...but you already have a black rex so you know what is involved

Go the shire Brian :gooff:

I got a terrible price for trade in so decieded to sell my old ute privately. I bought a new ute as soon as I found what I wanted, (it had taken me 3 yrs of searching),

ended up taken bit more than 3 months to sell it, but still got more money than the trade in. Now im happy as larry

U have a more saught after car though, so it wont take u nearly as long.

surly some wog will want it :nono:

I got lucky with my old car sold it in 5 days, lucky though as I handed over the keys and got the guy to drive me down to ford to pick up my new ute :)
