Otherwise, the police would have a field day by pulling over every BA ute owner who optioned the 18s over the 17s whereby because the owner has lowered the original max quoted load limit measured off the 17s (or 16s in Rota_Motor's case).By I do agree with ya mate on that you should get professional advice on load limits if he does wish to carry a load and wants to know what the revised wheel/tyre package limits are. What that amount is I don't know.What I do know its there are no 20" rims in the corect profile to avoid changing your overall diametre that are load rated at all. Period. I didnt really want the one tonne rating, but I wanted a traytop and the one tonne load comes with it.I got a ute so I could put my toolbox on the back, and wheels etc. when I take my RX-7 out to the drags or whatever, and if it ever does more than carry a toolbox, it gets the 16's back on. The psi shown is the optimum for that tyre. So you may want to do some research like this and not take some local tyre guys advice to seriously. Insurancen. we will I <3 Bananas you over at every opportunity Although it’s unlikely that the police or DOT/RTA would bat an eye lid at it unless you really piss them off, the insurance companies will happily void a policy on such a technicality when it comes time for an at-fault claim – even if the accident has nothing to do with the load bearing capabilities of the vehicle. I guess now is time to email the relevant rego authorities, and see what they have to say about it.EDIT: makes me wonder, if I fit a factory option of rim, how is it illegal? when to my thinking, it only becomes an illegal modification, if the vehicle is carrying more than the rated load. I loaded my dual cab rodeo the other day with pavers and bricks and took it to the dump, it was 1640kgs, only rated to 1075kgs, nothing happened but its still illegal, and if it went pear shaped I would have no insurance.
