Guest mercurysteve Guests Posted 10/03/05 09:53 PM Share Posted 10/03/05 09:53 PM I find some posts a bit of a laugh. The GTR eaters around the place are a bit far fetched IMO.I have been in an R33GTR AND an R34GTR (passenger only) and they both scared the sh*t out of me, absolutely was packing it at the capability of these things. Sure, the driver was a gun, but geese these things were awesome. For years, they held the N'burg lap records and killed the older V8 supercars etc etc, yet a stock T will "hose" em down etc. What a joke. My old modded S15 would destroy my T in a straight line and once it was off the straight line, don't even bother. I drove down the highway in my S15 and an old R33 GTR wanted to have a go at me, I was not keen on 120klm p/h plus drag, so he just launched the thing anyway and it was the most impressive thing I have seen on a suburban road/hwy. It was a rocket. The common thing IMO is the driver, some can drive a car and lauch it hard whilst some simply are duds, dud gear changes etc. Also, most imports are not in great nick, poor mods, shoddy work done and they are lesser car than they were as good condition stocker. Motor launched a stock R34GTR in 4.71 seconds, a bit quicket than the T, wouldn't you agree?Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the T heaps and will mod it and hold onto it for some years to come, just stay off the drugs some of you. You are running down one of the legendary cars of all time based on a family car with a turbo attached?

Even a stock R34 GTR only runs around a flat 14.But they're very similar to our XR6Ts. Alot of potential easily unleashed.I think it's safe to say there aren't any 'sleeper' Skylines around. If it looks stock, I'd bet it is.But if it looks modified... Be wary. There's a fair chance it'll go like a cut snake.I haven't been beat by a 33 or a 34 yet. A stock looking 33 GTR couldn't stay with me, and a modified 34 GTS-T... Pffft. But 32s... I've been slapped by a couple of em.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Sorry you say a stock 34 GTR runs a flat 14??? I think not!! the 34 GTR Vspec II is the quickest of them all in stock form! It will run 12.90's all day long! If you can hold a GTR 34 in full flight in a stock T, then 1. I wouldnt beleive it, or 2. the planets are all lining up! I had a 32 GTR stock with an exhaust, pod filters and a 33 GTS-t with bigger turbo, ic, Apexi computer and all the nip sh*t. Both manuals, the GTR did 13.00 bt and the GTS did 11.9 bt!Cheers Luke.

vuster Member 112 Member For: 20y 1m 24d Location: Melbourne Posted 10/03/05 10:44 PM Share Posted 10/03/05 10:44 PM I have seen more skyline GTST's with GTR badges than real GTR's on the road. One thing to look for is the wide rear end. I wouldn't be too afraid in a T going up against a stock GTST or even a GTR. A friend of mine bought a R33 GTR and he wasn't happy with the performance. Remember they are quite old cars and I think he purchased a lemon. If you ever beat a skyline at the lights with a GTR badge on it, make sure it's actually a real GTR before adding it to your kill list. From my experience, the stock GTST's aren't that fast. When I had my stock 200sx I never lost to one. Saying that the T is faster than a stock 200sx.
Guest mercurysteve Guests Posted 10/03/05 11:18 PM Share Posted 10/03/05 11:18 PM Vuster, your are also IMO. I have had plenty of Jappo car experience (so no hanging sh*t on me for it either ) and the following are absolutely true from experience.* Most GTST's we see in OZ are sh*t boxes (poor mods, been stacked, poor rebuilds, damaged parts and dodgy importers don't help), their reputation OS is that they are Rex Slayers. So older, poor history and low grade mods are a worry for GTS t's in general. I have driven a full 3" off the turbo tuned 1993 model and it was an absolute weapon. Never driven a stockie though, maybe as stock they are * GTR's are rare, good ones even rarer. Look at the brakes as a dead giveaway usually. If you race one and he DID GET A GOOD LAUNCH and he/she is not a total spastic driver, forget it, it really is game over unless you have Geea or Pashen type of rwkw and assuming you can drive.* Stock 200SX 's S14 & S15 over a 1/4 are both slower than a good condition S13, got heaps of them on video and DVD dragging against each other. With IC, Zorst and ECU though, the S15 Flies and is a quick thing. Power to weight is also a huge advatntage once modded over most street cars.Hell, I've hosed an old Carrera in my missuses RAV4 3 door, but he wasn't even suspecting it, so does that count as a kill??? I absolutely love kill stories and my T. Just keep it a bit real is all I ask. If I sounded at all negative, it wasn't the intention.

My Brother Inlaw's GTR is on Carsales at the moment for sale. Immaculate car, runs 11.4 down the quarter and definately the fastest car I've driven. GTR's are just drastically over engineered which makes them such an awesome street car.
wados Member 617 Member For: 20y 2m 11d Gender: Male Location: brisbane Posted 11/03/05 06:50 AM Share Posted 11/03/05 06:50 AM I tell ya that is what sh*ts me about the skylines today all the heros and there GT badges when the are only gts-t's mine was a gts-t and I never once wanted to put a gtr badge on it, it would be like me putting a turbo badge on my NA xr6 and as soon as these cars get a bit older and less in price you are going to see people with turbo badges on them.Be proud of what you got and if its not fast a fake badge wont make it go faster and the true car lovers will always tell a fake and a real one
TUFGSR Member 514 Member For: 19y 10m 17d Posted 11/03/05 07:11 AM Share Posted 11/03/05 07:11 AM guys, does it really matter how people have to drive there car in order to acheive a certain time? You guys keep saying that the only reason his fast is cause he dumps the clutch at high revs.Yes very good. After all it is 4WD double the traction, double the reevs makes sense doesn't it.You auto guys have high stalls to bring your car on boost before take off. So what? All cars are built different so there will always be different ways to drive a car to achieve the best possible times.I have dragged guys before with heaps more power than my car and I still beat them cause I got the launch and they sat there smoking the tires. In the end guys its who has the fastest car. However you got to the end first is irrelevent.Just my 2 cents
