And at the same time people are trying to hide it Ford are trying to find it. Does anyone really think that Ford don't have a flash box to play with? Well two actually!

A few queires for ST and my obervations on the edit,

N.B:

I have not re-gapped my plugs.

I run 98 BP fuel only

The only mod is a K+N filter

I have no affiliation with ANY tuning house.

The Edit is the latest (AS of the 3/06/05) and I have noted the following

First general comments,

On the warranty:

If Ford do notice the EDIT, so what? It's not moral to pretend the T broke "ALL on it's own" you're just making claims harder for the unmodified T's out there with genuine problems. If you EDIT accept the loss of the warranty.

In my experience, Ford mechanics that have trouble remembering to tighten bolts after a service probably have bucklies chance of finding an edit anyway (sorry, but the mob up here aren't rocket scientists) Though they may read XR6turbo.com, and if this is the case, they're great blokes and I never got an edit...

even if you did get accused and wanted to preserve your warranty, I suspect the following conversation would ensue:

Service manager, "You got a CAPA edit!"

CAPA customer, "O.K, Prove it"

Service manager, "You got fault code 1206"

CAPA customer, "Yeah! I heard about that, the F'n T.C keeps shutting off, lots of people have that complaint.....When are you guys going to fix it?"

Service manager, "It only does it with a CAPA edit!"

CAPA customer, "O.K, Prove it"

if Ford flash a new factory load, send your flash box to be wiped and reload thier new factory tune, it's not that big an issue is it?

On the EDIT it or BEND it issue:

In my opinion I can't understand why the "Benders" persist in questioning the EDIT. To me the difference between the two is like Carbies compared to EFI, Sure you can get great results with carbies, just as good as EFI, but, it's no where near as elegant.

On the EDIT in the car:

OK,

The TC fix isn't fixed, TC shut down on me twice usually while accelerating through 160kph. I don't see this as an issue, small price to pay for the added grunt between 3000rpm and 4500rpm, who gives a sh1t? not me.

Car really hikes between 120 and 180 kph. It's brilliant for overtaking I've never driven anything like it, the acceleration in 4th is brilliant!

Top speed has fallen from 230 to 220 kph. she stops up against 4900 rpm and won't go any faster. perhaps a custom tune will fix this, I suspect (could very well be wrong here) that this has been done to stop the T from leaning out up top and blowing holes in various bits)

rev limiter for my T comes in much nicer now, but with the tune as provided isn't that crucial as power development seems to tail off after ~5200 rpm.

One flat change and the back tyres chirped, mechanical sympathy will ensure I don't do that again!

I think a custom tune would resolve the minor issues I have, I'm very happy with my EDIT and recommend one to all the (like I have been) fence sitters and nervous nellies.

queries:

1: Is the lower top speed due to lean out protection?

2: When will CAPA be up here for a dyno day?

3: Fuel pump and injectors or valve springs next...

The EDIT gets a tick from me, makes the T what it should have been.

edited my post about an edit

Street Tuner, as per a comment on another thread, is there a charge to 'reset' the CAPA Edit box when changing cars ???

I know jetute has had his changed over from ute to sedan. Not sure if there was a cost involved.
