Unleaded is available in 91, 95 and 98 octane. Does edit have to be tuned to a specific octane? Could edit be tuned to 91?

Speaking to Rob at HPF yesterday

Me too. I hope to have it up there in the next 2-3 weeks.

Makes sence what you say, what ever you have in the tank at the time of the tune. I guess if the car was tuned for just 91 ron, there would be some loss of kw's.

Macka, I am hesitant to go into the detail workings of the PCM with you when you have made it clear you are developing your own competitive software product. What I can tell you is that switching functions in the PCM on or off is as simple as setting status bits in a register or 'word'.

We have several Ts around the country reliably running 12 second quarter miles on totally stock transmissions anywhere between 112 - 115mph terminal speed. As you may now understand after having gone to the strip and having failed to achieve your initial goals that regardless of rwkw readings that getting a neat stock T to run a 12 second pass takes a lot of tuning nouse and correct programming of both the engine and the auto trans.

Thanks Tuner,

As far as developing my own software, I wish I was that smart. :msm: I don't have a couple of years to spare :msm:. Just trying to post a thread to create some interest, as the site is pretty boring at the moment. Not as many computer geeeks here as I thought. Tried to give them the tools to at least get a start.

As far as the reason why I want to know how the PCM works out torque reduction I was just trying to understrand how the PCM calculates it torque and which parameters it uses.

With these torque reductions removed the factory PCM would be like the EMS which controls all the tuning functions timing, boost, injector duty cycle. With the EMS controlling all these functions and not the PCM my car is basically running with the full torque that the motor produces. The only thing it does'nt run is throttle position.

I believe that is why I've gone through 2 transmitions within 5000 km. The last one did'nt even do 1000 km and last more than 300m on the 1/4.

If it is the same as the EMS then I would like to know how the Edit protects the transmittion other than speeding line pressures and shift firmness. I believe these transmittions are only warrantied by manufacturer for 550nm because this is as much torque as they can handle and why all Ford cars are tuned under or to this limit.

I hav'nt heard of any Edit tuned cars stuffing the Auto but a lot of these cars on this site are not making more than 250 rwkw. It will be interesting to see how many and how long they will last when they go beyond 300 rwkw.

Edit should be here next week for me :msm:

cheers

Martin don't forget it also takes lots of skill, intelligence and daring from the driver.

Tuner,

I will be getting the edit next week :drivingalong: as well as having trans fixed.

I have a question for you.

You mentioned on another thread that you were working on a module that would provide tuners with the capability to use fully independent camshaft control.

Which should see even greater performance gains :spoton:

How is this project coming along?

Will it be included in future updates?

How long before these updates are available?

Will the software updates be free to existing customers?

My question seems to be miised each time.

Can you set Traction Control to Off by Default on all performance tunes ?

Thanks

You better dock my pay Macka for this terrible oversight!

:spoton:

Might have too. Did'nt know that you only work till 9 - 5 and on week days.

Still waiting for the answers.

As soon as I know if and when these functions are avaliable, or going to be a free upgrade when finished, the sooner I transfer the money. :Imwifhim:

Until the base code is populated in the stock processor application independent control will not be supported. Ie. when Ford start doing it, so will we.....

I really question why you would want to go the edit path Macka. You already have a well tuned solution that makes the numbers, why would you want to change it?
