Ok, gotta be quick cause I'm just on my way out again, but ... went down to the dealer this morning to pester them. Car due tomorrow ... guess what?

IT WAS READY!!

13 klms on clock then, 102 klms now! Quick trip to Picton for lunch ... had to keep running out to check it in the car park.

Heading up the coast, soon ... quick impressions ... this car is f*cking nuts!

It goes really, really well, fast, comfortable, stops well, etc., etc., full description later, gotta go drive her again.

... gotta go.

KEN 24T  :)  :)

Woohoo... About time for you.

Maybe now you'll act more "sane" on these forums ;) But I think that you'll be feeling and acting like a little kid "who's had too much fizzy drink" :D

Good on ya mate

I was a bit worried when my mate saw your plates around, thought maybe your dealer took it for a spin without letting you know, but all good :D

Hhmmmm, I'm a happy man, I've got to say.

When you're waiting for what seems to be a lifetime, it's hard to keep your spirits (JW?) up. People saying that you'll appreciate the wait and that it's worth the wait, etc., etc., ... well I've got to say that they were all right.

I've just got back from Nelson Bay with 625 klms on the clock. After I picked the car up, I took SWMBO to Picton for lunch and spent the whole time running in and out of the pub to check my precious. Then it was off north. Stayed the night and drove back today.

Where do I begin to describe the absolute fantasy that the last 36 hours have been. Let's start with the best bit, the acceleration. This car is just nuts when it delivers it power from just over 2000 rpm (or so). Pushed back into the seat and watching the tacho to avoid going higher than 4000 rpm. It pulls like a hobbit in a corn field, through all gears. Slightly less in 5th, but 2nd to 4th are just a rush!

It stops (premium brakes) with such little effort and I'm yet to feel in any way insecure with the stopping ability of this car. It's awesome, simply awesome. Don't regret shelling out the extra dollars for a second.

Premium sound and Zeppelin do mix! How The West Was Won never sounded so good, in stadium mode. The biggest problem is deciding whether to listen to Zep or turn it down and just listen to the turbo wind up and the wastegate "gobble". Only way I can think to describe the sound.

Leather seats, firm, comfortable, supportive ... and the smell! I keep going to the garage just to get another fix. mmmmmmm.

Handling is stiff and very purposeful. Haven't really tried it out just yet, mostly straight line stuff, but it feels very well behaved. Can't wait to start throwing it around a little.

Very disapointed with the scuff plate inserts, going to need a set of FordXR6Turbo ones. Can someone bring a set to the August run. Wallet is open! :)

Tyre pressure is interesting. Thought I'd check to see what they were on the way back and discovered that both front and back are already above 40psi? I was expecting that the dealer would have them around 35psi or so? Ride seems fine at the moment, so I'll leave them alone.

Talked to the service guy at the dealer about the 3000 klm service and he agrees that the oil and oil filter should be changed then, not at 15000. He also showed me what they do with the intercooler grill. Black, Silver, Red or Blue and it's "hot melted" and taped from inside, no holes, screws, etc. Looks very good and I'll get it done.

Very happy with the boot liner, softer than I expected and looks great. Had to put a blanket in the well to stop stuff sliding around though.

Exhaust note is quieter than I would like but the ambient noise in the cabin is just beautiful. Love the sound system and the sound of the motor/turbo, so might leave the exhaust alone for a while.

Footwell light fading in and out is just magic, thanks whoever posted about this. The service guy didn't know about this and I'm sure he didn't believe me, until he did it. I think he's going to do it to all sedans with premium sound now.

I know people have been posting about the drive chain and the gearbox, but I like them. The gear box suites me, I like the positive gear positions and the fact that you have to be direct when changing gears. The drive chain clunk is noticeable, but if you change smoothly, it's not a problem. I guess I'll reserve judgement on this for a while, it might get better (or worse).

... so I've left heaps out, and they will be more pictures after I go and buy cleaning stuff and give her a bath. That won't happen for a few days, cause tomorrow morning, we're off to Melbourne. Good nights sleep first then early start. Can't wait!

I'll just check and see if SWMBO wants anything down the shops ...
