I allready have been given a price of $48000, so now I am going to talk to a couple of dealers and tell them that I dont want to pay anymore than $43000, but really I am happy to pay $44000 should I let them know that?

A couple of good pointers there thanks!

Hell no, don't ever tell them how much you're really willing to pay.

Tell them 43k yes or no.

Some will say no and you walk out.

Others will say no, but try talk you into it.

If you say your fine with 44k, you have a 1k price difference to play with.

Either way you still get the price down by 4k.

If it doesn't work, thanks for your time and move onto the next dealer.

Don't let them burn you on your trade in value after all that. I like to take a print of a glass/red book valuation with me.

that's the other problem, I think I have spent between $8-$10000 on my wrx the current redbook value for a trade in is $26000.

Then I have to see if they will give me any extra as it is modified otherwise I will have to strip all the goodies off it and sell them seperate.

I would like to get $30000 for it as is and the dealers have hinted that that price is Ok pending viewing of the car.

The thing is most salesman are such sly dogs and always have a trick up their sleeve.

Thankyou all for your responses, some have made me feel ok about the price I paid for my baby and some other replies have made me feel pretty ordinary. It would appear that you really have to make the effort to visit as many dealers as you can in order to get the best price. The arriving on there door step price is always going to be an over inflated BS price. Always remember they can do better and if your down to the nitty gritty part of negoitiating a sale they will bend for you even more if you try and walk out on them. Dont ever be held on the price they quote you, another dealer will always be able to do somewhat better, weather it be price wise or more options, spend us much time as you can and harrass them as much as you can.

The standard price of 46,300 for the XR6T MkII is crap expecially when they all say plus on roads. Forget the on roads, its just the worlds most expensive car wash. And if all of a sudden they say you can have the car without paying for the on roads they are still miles in front and this is there best trick to knock off 3k and make you think your getting the deal of the centuray when they and you can always do much better.
