SOON2BXR6T Member 78 Member For: 21y 6m 28d Location: Adelaide Posted 05/03/05 10:01 AM Share Posted 05/03/05 10:01 AM I have started research for my next purchase (current list: Liberty GT, Liberty 3.0RB, BA II XR6T man, Mazda 6 MPS) and wondered what people think about the BA II 6 speed after having the 5 speed.Have been pretty happy with my T (haven't had any where near the probs some have had) and while I like variety, there arent too many options out there with the performance and family space I require. The Lux pac looks good too. Thought I wouldnt miss climate control but guess I'm getting lazy.Mine is a 9/03 on a 3 yr nov lease but will trade before that (as soon as I can get resale reasonably above payout figure) hopefully later this yr.I dont think the 5 speed is that bad actually - damn site better than the EL XR6 I had once (selecting 1st gear when hot was near impossible). So is the 6 speed a better shift, faster/slower, better on fuel etc???
Guest Senator Guests Posted 05/03/05 10:20 AM Share Posted 05/03/05 10:20 AM Get the auto. Its quicker, easier to use and no turbo lag. If your thinking MKII then the auto is the way to go. Same price too.

The build quality, smoothness and safety features of the Subaru's really impressed me although the power is far short of the T. I choose another T in the end as the massive fleet discount on the Ford (vs the stuff all discount on the Subaru's) meant it would of cost me $5000 gross extra per year to get into the Subies.
