you wouldnt bother fitting a aftermarket cooler unless u planned to run or do currently run some sort of tunable edit or piggy, you wouldnt benefit from the full potential of the cooler at all.

Yeah, I know that mate. I just seem to keep seeing posts of guys that have just whacked on a new cooler! I didnt think you could do that at all without a retune.

I just wasnt sure it was safe to just bolt one in.

Or are all these guys, even running on stock ECU, running around overboosting all the time with really lean AFR's?

dunno of any1 using a aftermarket cooler with stock ECU sorry mate. but I dare say yes u would go into limp mode due to the extra boost u would achieve from the new cooler.

Is it safe to drive it conservatively until the tune is done, is really what im asking??

Why im asking, is that I love the current edit tune in my car, including the auto shift setup etc, and its running like a dream. Just got the bigger injectors in etc and Its just awesome!

I have ordered a new Hyperflow intercooler, which should be here in the next few weeks. If I put it in, I would need a re-tune, and the tuner lives on the other side of the country!!!!!

Only option I have is to leave it out until I get to melbourne to get it adjusted! Or get someone else locally to tune it, which nothing against any of them, I dont really want to do.

Its too big of a risk to fit it then drive to Melb!

so your car is edited? then yes it will run FINE.

stock ECU, you probly could drive "normal" but as soon as u give it a gutful then into limp mode u go. the stock ECU will go nuts at anything over about 7psi.

Im not so sure. Im pretty sure the fuel tables will have to be changed to match the extra flow rate of the new cooler, hence the boost control table will have to be adjusted as well.

This is what I have ordered!

ok who wants in on a group buy?? just a list of names so far to see if we have enough people..

1: Trough Lolly

2:Cobramad

I received an email from ASE saying we can have them for $799 for 10+ coolers. ill see if we can get a price for 5 coolers, and HOPEFULLY if it hits 10 we get the larger discount.

What do you think some one will charge to fit the intercooler ?
