Whilst are not as hard as RB74s they bite quickly when cold and suit a slightly less aggressive driving style - which makes me happier when the wife jumps in for a drive - horses for courses. aiboart Member 665 Member For: 20y 21d Posted 03/03/05 08:15 PM Share Posted 03/03/05 08:15 PM It is ridiculous that a car of 1.8 tonnes comes with the same brakes fitted to a bloody Taxi or the equivilent base model XT. We dont buy an XR 6 or 8 to drive around like grannies. It should be standard and it should be illegal to buy an XR without them. Before any other option the p brakes are a must have. The most important option you can get. The standard brakes suffer significantly from brake fade even after only a few hard stops. This is why all NSW police vehicles, fords only, from base XT to XR8, all come with the p brakes.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>are you sure? I was told to fit P-brakes you need the 18" wheels, and I have never seen a cop car with 18"s. All the HWP cars out my way (XR8's, XR6T's) have standard rims and unpainted calipers (the P-brakes are blue).<{POST_SNAPBACK}>You only need 17" wheels. The usual 16" steel space saver will not fit around the P brakes, so a spare alloy is a mandatory option. All the P - discs, (XR and FPV both, and front and rear) have the double figure eight gas grooves. On XR's the front caliper is black (dark grey) with 'Ford' and 'Pbr' written on it in white. The rear caliper is unpainted. They do not draw attention but if you are looking for them they are rather obvious. On FPV the front caliper is Ford Blue, they do draw attention. - I think it has 'FPV' written on it. I cannot recall if the rear caliper is painted.regardsaa
