CAN THE DEALERSHIP DETECT THE FORD EDIT

Apparently Ford DO KNOW the car has been flashed/Edited. Do not kid yourselves thinking that you can put the stock map back in the car and try to claim the car is stock if there are any warranty "issues" that could have been caused by a increase in power.

In what thread or who has proven this as far as I am aware they can only speculate on wether a car has been edited or not .

As far as I know for have no way of telling if your car has the edit  :spoton:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Ford are aware of this produce and CAN TELL THAT YOU HAVE CHANGED THE ECU MAP, even if it is back to stock.

I have heard it from 2 independant sources. My Ford dealer Service manager and a well respected tuner who asked be remain anonymous, who has seen the info the ECU can produce. The Ford Service manager asked me if I was getting an edit after I removed the Unichip He mentioned that they will know that a system has been edited.

Both said that there is a date stamp from the last upload. I am not sure if it is dd/mm/yy or x days since last upload.

The ford ECU does have the abillity to say what tune is there as in what REV. 1.1 or which ever they call it. The Ecu from what I understand doesnt have any time or date stamp functions hence when error codes come through they ussally ask when the problem occured as ECU doesnt tell them that info. The ford ECU also has a limited amount of flash memory which why it doesnt have that function I believe.

But then again I could be wrong but the way to prove it would be to get your dealer to show you.

I bet you they won't :spoton:

These dealers like to say all sorts of things

the fastest T on this forum currently runs a Xede, although that may change shortly.

Grant, your wrong mate, the fastest and the quickest XR6T in Australia are tuned via Unichip technology. :spoton:

Hmmm.....we have a new person with just 5 posts asking rather interesting questions considering the recent edit vs piggyback wars....and then commenting on how great it was that they were answered without being flamed.

I may be wrong, but over the years I have developed a good sense of smell. And I sense a TROLL.

Get out the FLAMETHROWERS!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think that your good sense of smell is correct. I suspect this person (Dave) is a SCT edit dealer soliciting business (free of charge) from the forum. :spoton:

Well, so far there's been no advertising... so no complaint. We need to start a new seection of the forum called "Odds On" where we can place bets on how long threads will take to go south or be locked I reckon. Nice way to help keep the costs of this place down :)

Hey Peter,

I meant privately owned... probably should have stated that ;)

Fair enough Grant. Though in my view fastest is fastest and quickest is quickest, otherwise we will have the people claiming the fastest purple auto ute with 19" wheels privately owned with less than 10k kms on the odo meter with fluffy dice off the mirror.:spoton:
