So in the end, if you get caught just wear the penalty, treat the police with some respect and they will (hopefully) give you some back, be honest and say no to drugs.

BA_TURBS - what does TMU stand for.

Not saying that, fight it to your heart's content! I'm not saying we're always right either :spoton:

TMU stands for Traffic Management Unit, Formerly TOG (traffic Operations Group). Vic equal to HWP.

BA_Turbs and ZapXR6T thankyou very much. Your posts were both awsome.

I like " I am a safe and carefull driver and check my speed regularly" because it isnt rude and doesnt condem me either.

Like I said Im only asking for ideas here in case I get a bad policeperson who clearly is tring to get me for more than what I deserve. That said in my 3+ years of driving ive only had one bad egg the rest have been much more than fair and let me off somtimes when I didnt deserve to be let off...

I can remember once when a copper pullled me over at 2:30 am on a straight but hilly road with no cars seen in either direction for over a half hour. I'm in a L300 4WD with a ton and a half load on a trailer. He tells me he has me on his radar doing 117 kph in a 100 zone and asks me why? So I simply told him the truth - 'cos I'm flat chat and the fukker won't go any faster and I'm trying to get a run-up for the next hill

He didn't say another word - just wrote out the ticket and I went on my way - no need to talk crap to them I reckon as you'll get the ticket anyway.

This is somewhat disturbing. It seems that after only 3 years of driving you know several Police Officers on a first name basis. I sense a pattern here.

Perhaps you are doing something wrong.

Be polite, not smart. I would imagine any sign of disrespect and you count on going into the book. Probably doesnt help much.

In a relatively small city officers pull over any P plater with a nice-ish car because there is not many others out at night. Its just how small places work. And as I said ive only had one bad one. Ive been pulled over a lot for breath tests and car inspecions but never speeding etc.
