Wow, it's been so long since I posted here I actually forgot how to! Anyway. What do people think is necessary to break a manual T into the 11 sec bracket? Is it possible without spending huge $$$. The best I have heard of so far was badxr6 with a low 12. My assumption is that traction would be one of the major issues. What 60ft times are the manuals averaging in comparison to some of the quiker autos?

Would having fatter rear rubber distort the general handling characteristics of the car? Would serious rear suspension mods be necessary? Is 350rwkw enough to achieve this time? I currently have a T5 which would obviously have to go, however is there any way to quicken the shifts in the T56?

Any thoughts and oppinions would be appreciated guys as I am tossing up between continuing the mods to the T (only got 268rwkw at the mo) or holding off and getting a 350Z or Monaroe and TTing it.

Cheers,

Chris

We have customers running in the 10's with our T56 in other cars. If you can drive, it will do it. Ben.

If you do decide to go with the 350Z or the Monaro in TT format are you still looking for the 11 second bracket? IMO I think you'll still have issues with traction and drive train with those cars aswell. When times start getting as low as 10 and 11 sec bracket alot of rear wheel drive cars are sporting some serious rubber or mini tubbing.

I think you should go with the TT in either a 350Z or XR8 then put some big slicks under the rear. :spoton:

Too be honest, I believe the manual should be quicker or at least equal, if driven properly! I have been in Craig's mid 11 second auto and it's kinda sluggish off the line when compared to other fast cars I've in. I believe this is due to the high 1st gear in the auto box, but I suspect with a 3000-3300rpm hi-stall and some slicks that would cure the problem.

A manual should get close though, but it would take launch control (which the new edit can do), a good (brutal) driver, a pair of slicks and some decent neddies...

Dave.

You will also need to remember that getting into the 11sec club will require a ANDRA license. When you break into the 10 sec club you will need a roll cage and other safety gear. I do not know if these rules apply to WSID only, but I thought it was worth a mention

Thanks for the replies guys. I am looking for an 11 second daily driver hence why I was concerned with fooling with the suspension or tyre setup too much. I want a car I can have (even more) fun in the twisties with not just a straight hence why I bought the manual (no offence auto drivers, just my personal preference).

Fordboy, it's a very valid point you raise about the edit having launch control. I wonder what my total outlay would have to be to achieve what I want considering I am sitting on a phase 2 at the momment and will need a car with bigger brakes (pbr upgrade), rods (and pistons?), T56, and whatever path I continue to follow, possibly phase 3 if APS have plans to run their edit in parallel (thus I can take advantage of launch control). Any thoughts or oppinions appreciated.

Oh, and I am in Melbourne so no need to worry about WSID regs.

Regards,

Chris

Chris if your looking for a really quick car for the'' twisties'' than you be hard pressed to find a better car than the 350 Z, the handling and braking of the Z track model is just superb, just add a Twin Turbo system then you'll have all of your wants/needs covered. :msm:

Couldn't agree with you more there Peter. A friend of mine traded his sti for a 350Z. I've driven both and would have to say that the 350 is one of the best handling rear wheel drive cars I've ever been behind the wheel of. I always thought you couldn't come close to the handling of an all wheel drive sti but the 350 does. Definately needs the TT set up though.

No doubt the 350Z has awesome handling and braking, then add another 120 RWkW's (courtesy of the APS intercooled Twwin Turbo system) and this 350Z is a real weapon, not quite a twin turbo Porsche though still an awesome amount of fun for the dollars invested. :spoton:
