ok with some mods you might think you will the rex but the sti run 13.6 100mph off

the show room no mods  but to be fair you can by stock 03 wrx and and still run 13.9 for less money than a xr and with little money spent run low 13s (13.1to 13.3

depending on driver) all day long so really if you want to come down to money

you can buy a 98 wrx for 17k spend $1500 and run low 13s with out even trying if your a goor driver you might even break the 12s

and you could say almost the same thing about a T when they are 7 years old, and in my opionion all pre 2002 wrx's were built like sh*t, my mates 98 had bits of interior falling off all over the place, clutches would last five minutes and blew 2 gearboxes, he was doing mid 13's.

What you should do is sell everything and buy the new evo 8.

Then you have a great car in all respects.

Go the Lancer GSR

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

if only they would stop bringing them out in such small numbers, the first release was only 100 cars and they were sold before anyone could even think about buying one, the next run was a little more and they are all gone too from what I hear. Although a collegue in brisbane got one and I must say they do look good up close and the are very very quick.

but if they bought in more then it will take away the exclusivity of the car.

I mean how many evo s do you see driving around.

now compare that to all the STI's around. Every man and his dog has one.

Mostly EVO enthusiests will buy evos where as a lot of people will buy a rex just to be cool. that's not to say there arnt evo tools cause I met them but there are only a few.

Personally I love having a car that not many people have. I like rexs and even commodores but the problem is theres just too many and they are quite boring and old now.

But like everyone says here each to there own.

There is a huge demand for them, they are selling faster than they can bring them in, as far as exclusity from what I understand they evo 9 will be built here as a direct competitor to the wrx/sti, it will be sold in 2 version both matching similar power outputs, features and price points as the wrx and sti, in the awd turbo world your either a major fan of the lancer or imprezza its much like ford v's holden, I think even if they sold 10 times more of them it will still be an exclusive car.

the evo will always be a great car but IMO all cars loose there wow factor when so many people have one. Like everything in life.

One of the reasons I like my car becuase to this day people still think my car is just a little "hairdressers lancer" that is untill I put my foot down, then there is a look of confusion! lol

that's what I love.

But in getting back to the original topic, like everyone said these cars are two very different cars.

- one is a large family car the other is a small family car.

- one has 4WD the other is 2WD

- one is a 2 litre four the other a 4 litre six

- both have horrible gearbox's (power handling)

- very different engine power delivery.

I guess look at your lifestyle and driving habits and decide which car best suits your needs.

A test drive after all this will definitly be the deciding factor.

If I were you I'd test the EVO 8 as well can't go past that active yaw control.

Oh and the gearbox is good for 9s proven.

I don't think anyone know's Turb06.

We know different models run different boost, but everyone has their own opinion ranging from 9psi - 18psi.

Most people say around 12.5 for the 04/05 though.

No real answers when comparing such different cars, I work with alot of WRX drivers and all of them love my car as much as they love theirs ... but for different reasons ... so if an XR is what you really want you will not be disappointed ... my car is awesome :spoton: but if you love your WRX keep it ... simple as that!

Other than them both being a sort of Performance Car ... that's where the similarities end!

Good luck with your choice :pooh:

Cheers, Jason.

Right on. You cant really compare them really. :pooh:

I have had a wrx 2002 sti now own a xr6 and think that I have made a mistake by getting the xr.

My experience differs. I went from stock 2000 WRX to stock XR6T auto and am very happy. I do miss the firm handling of the WRX but the T is much better balanced. I do miss the boost rush of the WRX but don't miss the lag. Nothing like bogging down in 1st gear watching taxis drive away from you
