The T is roomier, and alot smoother on the hwy's for me. Really at the end of the day the only way they compete is in the performance stakes. The only thing I have noticed that the suby has over the T is build quality. Guest DFECTV Guests Posted 23/02/05 11:29 PM Share Posted 23/02/05 11:29 PM I have had a wrx 2002 sti now own a xr6 and think that I have made a mistake by getting the xr . the xr is nice to drive and looks tuff but the rexy is more not just the power the drive of the rex is so much better stopping handling feel of the car is better my xr gets its doors ripped off it every race ive had. with the rexy never lost a race and could still tear up aset of tyres in one night down side to the rex was a speed limter at 235 so if you would take the race that far it would run out there I think you should keep wat you have got
Guest jteale Guests Posted 23/02/05 11:42 PM Share Posted 23/02/05 11:42 PM No real answers when comparing such different cars, I work with alot of WRX drivers and all of them love my car as much as they love theirs ... but for different reasons ... so if an XR is what you really want you will not be disappointed ... my car is awesome but if you love your WRX keep it ... simple as that!Other than them both being a sort of Performance Car ... that's where the similarities end!Good luck with your choice Cheers, Jason. Add just a few grand in mods to the XR6T and the STi would be toast in a straight line. The 2002 STi was also criticised by Autospeed. They said the engine was ordinary.http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1463/article.html

Of course the WRX has it all over the T in handling, AWD, build quality etc but the T is obviously much roomier, smoother consistent in its delivery, cheaper to maintain etc.Do you want a big car or small? If you need space its a no brainer, if you can live with a small interior then the WRX is the pick IMO. We had a T when it was the family car but now that we have eswitched to two cars, my choice of everyday transport was very easy, Sti
Guest DFECTV Guests Posted 24/02/05 12:01 AM Share Posted 24/02/05 12:01 AM ok with some mods you might think you will the rex but the sti run 13.6 100mph offthe show room no mods but to be fair you can by stock 03 wrx and and still run 13.9 for less money than a xr and with little money spent run low 13s (13.1to 13.3depending on driver) all day long so really if you want to come down to money you can buy a 98 wrx for 17k spend $1500 and run low 13s with out even trying if your a goor driver you might even break the 12s

MaxPower Member 65 Member For: 20y 8m 3d Posted 24/02/05 12:10 AM Share Posted 24/02/05 12:10 AM Blackwrx,..............I think you need to weight up that they are 2 different cars. I own an Auto T and a modded Turbo GSR Lancer (ive owned it for 5 years now). My lancer wouldnt out handle a WRX, still its a 93mdl. But the lancer has smoked too many WXR's to keep count. only betten by one so far, im not silly though I know there are plenty out there that are faster.1)Insurance. im sure youll find that the T is a hell of a lot lower.2)The WRX has a cockpit feel like your in a gokart. the T is not like that. This is a big thing for me. I love jumping in my gsr its so more involing to drive.3)Traction of an AWD is always great. but then again I missed getting my car sideways now and then. AWD drift is mega fun in the wet too!!4)Size. what do you want??5)To get great launches in the WRX you need to rev them up a 5200 dump I think? Not ot good for your driveline in the long run.6)I think the T is better value for money to mod. If you dont want to mod your T stick with you WRX youll have more fun!!Hope this helps a little. Posted 24/02/05 12:54 AM Share Posted 24/02/05 12:54 AM I think everything really has been said already mate, you need to go and drive both cars, then find someone in WA with a modded T and have a ride. Only then will you be able to weight up the pro's and cons of these cars, because really, they aren't comparable on a level playing feild. Both cars are targetted at different markets. You want a roomy car with plenty of go, comfort, and decent build quality (we have a ghia + late model liberty, been in plenty of mercs as well, so don't tell me the quality is crap, you got a lemon, deal with it) then go the T.Also remember, its a different type of strait line performance. The rex gets probably .2 of a second simply from its start. When the light goes green, the rex almost instantly has a 2 car length lead, but by the end of the quarter, the big falc has a much higher terminal and if there was an extra 100 meters to run, the xr would fly past.[edit] Just checked the power to weight. its 8.3kg/kw for the rex and 7kg/kw for the xr6t, that explains it all.If the only thing you did was stick 275's on the back with sticky rubber, and maybe a CIA, you would be nearly guaranteed a win down the quarter...
