Am I the only one to see a nice little earner here for an enterpirising young/old sparky here based on a change over basis......

I'd pay for it!

Anyone in Sydney, Melb or Tas (will be down on 29 Aug) wanna have a go? Name your price:)

Chrislak,

I think the Fairmont drivers door switch is $140. The XR / base one is $120. So Dagabond is right. A good little earner for someone...

I had my car in for it's 3000km service on Tuesday and of course I asked the question "Are the XR's meant to have illuminated windows switches and if not I want them" He thought all models had illuminated switches and would check. When I went back to pick up the car he stated that no only fairmont/Ghia models had the illuminated switches because there was a module that it different to the XR's and if I wanted that module would cost me $1800. I knew that was BS and I couldn't be bothered arguing with him. So I'm still in the dark if you know what I mean. :tears:

No they dont and likely can't either. I poped the switches to see cause it bugged me and I found a sealed switch that had no hope of lighting it up. Would be interested to see if the Fairmont ones light up.

Hi XR6TK1W1,

I have just pulled apart the switches and I've got a quick question for you, if you don't mind.

I presume that the windows are negative switching so I was wondering where the input for the lighting was (where would I find it on the circuit board.)

Thanks for all your help

Rob

Umm sheesh now I have to think. The windows are actually hooked to the anode ( pos ) side of the LED if you are doing the single switch its the top right hand contact. Now if you look at the PC board you will see a small hole in about the middle to the left hand side of the board. This is where you have to install a new pronge to get it to the connector. You can see where to hook it as it is the only free wire from memory. It also lines up with the hole. I used aluminium to do this. And this is what I soldiered the resistor to. I hope this makes sence. If not get back to me and I'll try to explain better.
