This is a known bug in the Ford programming and can be easily fixed with the Edit. Part of the standard upgrade actually.

Could it also be the timing of the VCT :spoton:

that's because neither of these piggybacks can actually affect the issue. They cant change idle rpm....hence you stall, regardless of what they try and trick the fuel and ignition to do.

G'day guys.

I am new to this forum and before having my say I'll tell you a little about my baby.

In 2003 I purchased a New BA Blood Orange XR6T Ute. I got Ford to put on a Hard Tray and wing, Leather and a Chunky Leather Wheel (I regret not getting the prestige sound.)

I installed a Turbosmart Supersonic BOV and a K&N Panel Filter. I have a DEFI Boost Guage and a Greddy Turbo Timer as well as some blue silicone hoses in the bay.

Myself and my mate both have the XR6T and we both have been experiencing the rough idle RPM, especially when attempting to select 1st and come to a complete stop. This is extremely frustrating considering it happened the other day at a very busy intersection and she stalled. My car and my mates car stalls a fair bit. We both purchased our cars from differing dealerships and when I take it to my dealer for a service, it does not stall. On friday I took it to my mates dealership and they completed the computer programme upgrade, it stalled for the 1st time in about 8 months leaving the driveway of the dealer.

I spoke with a good mate who is the service manager at this dealer and he informed me that the problem originates from Ford. He stated that the computer upgrade does not fix the idle however my original dealer's programme never made my car stall.

Is it possible that the dealerships have differing programmes? (I say this because my service manager mate rings me up and tells me that they have new programmes every few months, none seem to work.)

It is very frustrating!

Regards,

Adam

I had the same problem , especially with AC on.

I know you dont want to hear about the throttle body fix , but whilst I was doing this I noticed that all the piping for turbo , intercooler etc was loose & not properly sealed. I removed & cleaned all piping & then properly secured it back on the engine components. Plus checked all the rubber flanges for leaks.

Result - No rough iddling. No stalling

End Result - With this problem out of the way , and along with the many others I had , I finally decided to sell the ute. I know you've said you like the car but why should you put up with this type of build quality ?

Good Luck

I used to have the hunting idle issue quite a bit before the edit.

Whilst I can't say that it's completely gone, the car hasn't stalled since the edit was done.

Still hunts VERY occasionally but not to the point of stalling.

Hope this feedback helps guys.

Cheers

Strangely enough, this problem seems to be getting better all by itself. It's still happening, but the revs aren't varying as much and I think it's only stalled once in the last three days.

TB clean fixed my dads car, it was doing this, was worse when you had AC on and Headlights, maybe the TB needs to be replaced?

Its not fun when your driving along and the car stops dead, no powersteer and no brakes.... Bloody disgrace.

They did that at the last service... about 10,000 km ago.

Fixed the problem for about a month.
