Replacement Pads

Hello,

Have had the car back at the dealers 3 times now with the brake squeel.

Its going back again tomorrow as its still there

They have fixed the handbrake squeel but it sounds as though the brakes are dragging on the disc.

Will a pad upgrade or new set of pads fix the problem?

I am running out of options here.

Its been a waraanty job thus far and Im not sure weather Ford would machine the discs for free.

There is no reason why Ford would not machine the discs for free. Its not like its a major operation. Again, you have been there 3 times now! If you do get them machined and you want to upgrade your pads, try Bendix Ultimates. I run them and they a fine.

If you go to after market performance pads there likely to squeel more due to the higher metal content.

Bendix Ultimates "yuk" had those nothin but trouble.

Each to there own I guess. I have not had a problem with them and on my second pair

Edit: Perhaps instead of saying "yuk" you could elaborate

I am going to discuss ford machining the discs and when I replace the pads I do want to use other pads that could be less prone to do this. Not sure if there is such a thing

Why were they so much trouble. I might use different to the factory ones if they are better so need some feedback on different types and how they go or are the standard ones as good as anything else on the market. I would be thinking no.

Does that fix the problem altogether. I dont want to get it done and having it squeeling again soon after I get it home.

Its hard to know from where you are sitting but obviously this method cured your car?

Sorry for the "yuk" without explanation but I chose Bendix when I upgraded to 4000 series slotted rotors and after only a few hundred kilometres found the pads were breaking down under heavy braking (no track work) and transfering pad material onto the rotor giving me shudder again. The rotors were replaced and I ended up putting Ferrodo's in which I've had no trouble what so ever and less dust. Other people on these forums have had the same problem.

If you want a set of near new Bendix for nothing then I've got them under the house.
