The car will run like crap would'nt it. Next thing you know they would be climbing all over it for days tryin to find the problem and youv've lost Tuners tune as well. And they do stumble across the larger injectors. WTF will happen. macka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/15739-edit-larger-injectors-custom-tune/page/2/#findComment-220615 Share on other sites
NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 8m 14d Posted 17/02/05 11:17 AM Share Posted 17/02/05 11:17 AM Hey Street Tuner - thanks for the advice re: injectors above....Excuse my ignorance, but am I reading that the "slot 3" refers to the 3rd position on the flash box - being the 10psi map - can have larger injectors installed and run without any further tuning? I coudl have read this wrong and would love further clarification as I am sure other edit owners or prospective customers would. This obviously has profound implications in terms of the need (or lack of need) for further tuning/expenses for those wanting to keep mods to this level. Thanks in advance. NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 8m 14d Posted 17/02/05 11:22 AM Share Posted 17/02/05 11:22 AM Macka - like I said; avoid that problem by not taking to Ford at all (it's a mindset thing people have to get over if they expect to alter it from standard anyway). There's really no fesible benefit I can see from taking your car to Ford for anything other than warranty issues. It's just a common misconception new car owners have that these guys are for some reason more equipped to change oil and a filter (ok there's more to it that that) but hopefully you get my point. Honestly, I would do it myself if I had the time and could be bothered and didn't mind the log book stamp (which to me is probably the only issue re: resale). NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 8m 14d Posted 17/02/05 11:26 AM Share Posted 17/02/05 11:26 AM Pretzel - as an extension of what I have already said, if someone found themselve in this situation I would dare say that they're incompetent in the first place for taking a modified car to a factory dealership when we all know they can't tune it to suit your needs. Again, avoid the situation if you want to go down the modified road. I still take my car to local Ford dealer and they are fully aware of my mods and only do what I ask them. (small dealership)However there are some, probably quite a few that would still prefer their car to be serviced at place of purchase. If they reflash tuners #3 tune not only have you lost that but the car would run like sh*t. You know what would happen then. (they'd be like pigmies on a pot roast) all over it.macka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/15739-edit-larger-injectors-custom-tune/page/2/#findComment-220637 Share on other sites

NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 8m 14d Posted 17/02/05 11:31 AM Share Posted 17/02/05 11:31 AM pigmies on a pot roast, all over it!!!! hahahaha Sorry, you have me done with that one hahahah I suppose the answer to the concern then is for those leaning towards my approach choices have to be made about your beliefs of the need to go to the dealership, or towards the people you are illustrating, agreements like the one you have with your dealership must be had first. Problem solved... Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/15739-edit-larger-injectors-custom-tune/page/2/#findComment-220644 Share on other sites
NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 8m 14d Posted 17/02/05 11:36 AM Share Posted 17/02/05 11:36 AM Pretzel - honestly mate; if you are there for warranty and it is an engine related issue or even if you suspect that they will load a map without advising you first you have to be up front with your mods and tell them you do not want their sh*tarse reflash. Remember, unless you are blowing up engines and needing to prove it was not your modifications that caused the problem I doubt you'll ever be disadvantaged by being up front (that is if you need to as a matter of your car being potentially mucked up as you described). People have to decide whether they want to drive a stocker or a moded car and then take the responsibility associated with each option (pretty simple really).
