I agree Glen but I think its culture thing at Ford, I know the local guy who runs the service at the locl Frod delaer pretty well. He gets so desponent when he is trying to do the right thing for customers and has to follow guidelines and rules that clearly do not favour the customer.

The brake shudder isse is a clear example of this. They know how to fix it once. they have to follw the factory fix which is flawed so thet end up having to defend themselves all the time raher than be allowed to fix the issue.

Anyway Goodbye Mr Flint. I wouild hope his replacement has and understanding that despite the "we want to build great cars" crap, that they have to be fast and good or they will be walloped in the marketplace by HSV

Don't deliver a car for 75k that dos a 14.6. Make it at least as fast as an R8 or dont bother.

now get back to building cars like Tickford once did - less marketing BS and more performance!!!

C,mon, the first Tickford series cars ( TE50 etc) were invisible. You couldnt distinguish one from a fairmont they were so subtle in style. They didnt get their act into gear until T3 which had real presence, and by then, it was too late.

Ford/Tickford got whooped back then and never got close to HSV. FPV are doing a far better job in marketing to the performance buyer.

I've been reading a lot of the comments from forum members complaining about FPV and David Flint.

While I'm certainly not an expert in the field of manufacturing of high performance cars it should be remembered that there are a couple of basic requirements for any such business:

1 They are there to make a profit - manufacturing high performance cars for a relaitively small market such as we have in Australia is a difficult balancing act between producing something that appeals to the majority of potential buyers and making a profit at the same time. While we might like to think that forum members represent everyone who buys a car from FPV I somehow think that most FPV buyers don't even know that this (and other) forums exist.

Not every FPV buyer is into running the fastest 400m time or winning every traffic light drag!

2 FPV don't just have to keep their customers happy - as we all know too well the road safety do-gooders and the related government agencies also need to be pacified - sure FPV could make a 400rwkw weapon but how long do you reckon it would be before all hell broke loose and the whole local high performance car industry was (once again) knobbled by government?

It's also worth remembering that without David Flint we may not even have anything like the cars that we have today from FPV. I know him pretty well and he is very much the driving force behind FPV.

Sure there are problems but it's not a trivial task to run a company such as FPV although I'm sure there are plenty of "experts" around who are sure they know EXACTLY how to do it.

I guess I'll get flamed for this but someone had to say it.

For what it's worth I've always received excellent support, advice and service from Ford (including my local dealer), Tickford and FPV - and yes I do like to burn the ocassional SS commo.

Did I miss a Tickford model somwhere along the way? From what I remember they didn't do anything to write home about.

Why would you want Ticks on your Ford?

Ahhhhh my old new best mate Flinty, probably just a rumour I'd say, still the Captain steers the ship, and aside from the Typhoon clutch issue I've now got a Vixen MK 1 Bill Lee modded GT to drive around in until the clutch is sorted out in the Grey Ghost, thanks David :kissmy: There is also a set of bigger injectors and a high vol fuel pump sitting next to the edit box awaiting the return of the car. I think when they are fitted and tuned in the Ghost will be something to be reckoned with. In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy the GT that FPV said they would give me and then did. Perhaps if Flinty is going it might be his decision.
