Saw a report that David Flint is gone from FPV. Don't know if it is confirmed, but all I can say is that it's been in the wind for a while I reckon, and if it is true then maybe FPV can now get back to building cars like Tickford once did - less marketing BS and more performance!!!

Excellent, maybe he can be replaced with someone who has some PASSION :glad:

And who understands that the buyers of FPV expect quality both in engineering and build. It was funny to read one of FPV's early press blurbs where they said that market research found that the likely buyers of their cars were self employed or highly paid execs who demanded and expected quality without compromise. Pity they didnt follow their research.

My experience has been outstanding with the FPV. Apart from a noisy console lid and tight fuel cap I've had not one single drama with my car and its overall quality is excellent, no shunt that I can tell at all. The engine used 0.5 litre oil in the first 15,000k's and not a drop since, 26,000k's. Apart from the shunt which seems to affect mainly manual BA's across the range, Flint and his team have done an excellent job in my view.

OK, this seems to be unsubstantiated - he has made a public announcement that he is not planning to leave until end 2006. However, there WAS some rhetoric in his statement which could be read that it may happen sooner ...

As much as I love Fords, if the buyer of a FPV vehicle is looking for build quality, and great service then they may as well go else where becaue it doesnt matter of you buy a Fiesta or GTP they are still serviced by a Ford dealer.

Until they have specialist FPV service and sales then the band will never be a premium brand.

Same goes for HSV , you can spend 100k or more on a HSV, dont expect the same level of commitment or service that premium brand offers.

IMHO if the Ford managers spent a day with their Mazda counterparts they would learn about service and quality all in the same day.

It can be done as lesser brands offer better finish service and reliablity.

Regardless of this.. the quality of service should be the best no matter whether you drive a fiesta or a GT-P.
