thanx for the reply guys. it sounds like I would be happy with both, but the edit with the custom tune is ahead on points at the moment.

j teale I live in north sydney so I will give you a PM and see if we can meet up.

geeseman I am not 100% sure but I would say that the custom tune would have to be stored on the box as there is no way that you would have to keep tuning it and paying the extra $$$ everytime you change the maps.

Whilst I haven't had the custom tune done yet, I believe that the updated tunes would be transferred into your flash box. Moreover, the release of Quicktune will make the transfer/modification of tunes even easier.

I am just an edit user and therefore far from being a technical expert however as my car has spent up to 8 hours on the dyno being customed tuned thus far I am starting to get a pretty good understanding of how the process works.....I think!

As tuners continue to develop various maps to suit different vehicles they will compile stock piles (saved on laptop I assume) for future use.

For example lets say whilst having a custom tune the tuner identifies that your vehicle is suffering from surging @half throttle and perhaps the wastegate is not performing as it should or valve springs become an issue.

In this instance the tuner can upload a tune developed previously for a car with similar characteristics and use that tune as a starting point, which can then be tweaked further to suit your individual requirements.

Lets not forget this is still a new product that needs time to be fully understood by Tuners to get the best out of it as was the case with LS1 edit.

I may be wrong however that's my take on it :glad:

That is what I have also been lead to believe. Same goes for mods ie exhaust injectors etc, they will build up base programmes to start from then tune from there. :glad:

Does anyone know of who does a good tune & edit here in Melbourne?

Considering my T is only a couple of weeks in run-in mode with only 850k's on it, how soon should I wait before I get the edit in?

Personally knowing how long it takes for the T to fully loosen up, and the fact that if you are going to mod I personally would want to make sure I have bedded in components I would be looking at 5000+k's.

Most memebers have seen the most power output after 10,000k's.

This will also give you time to see what other edit options come out in the market over the coming months.

If you are desperate now, Amberley auto's (HPF) in Dande are held in pretty high regard and tuned Geea's car. Nizpro in Bayswater are another, then you will obviously have the delaers that will do the APS edit when it's released in March, ie Dynomotive in Baywswater.

Hope that helps. :spoton:
