How did you go with that rattle...did Ford get it fixed? Do you know what they replaced to fix it?

Ha ha, we must be in an exclusive rattle club. I have the same thing and it's going in on monday to have some valve or solenoid replaced that is located at the firewall end of the engine bay on the passenger side. My BA Phoon did it to Just a bit more Ford Aus quality control.

I just saw this thread for the first time, and must say I was very interested to read all the issues.... I might be able to help. ( I know where your all coming from I just spent all sunday fixing a ticking noise in my centre console)

Oh and schmick325, use white lithium grease, not silicon spray. Honestly I wouldn't bother with a dealer about it (I've read claims where they've charged to remove and refit new door locks when all you need is 5c worth of grease). You can get the right stuff in an aerosol can from repco, supercheap, bursons etc.

My ute has had no (internal) rattles or squeaks up to a week ago when an a annoying rattle which I swear sounded like it was coming from in the centre of dash board started. Took me a few hours with my wife driving over some uneven road surfaces and me crawling around to finally work out it was just the sunvisor wasn't clipped in properly and was rattling against the clip it was meant to be sitting in. I must have knocked it just out of the clip without being obvious.

Mate I take it back to them leave it all day and of course they say its all fixed or they can't find anyting it's literally like the bloody thing knows its going there. Presently there is a hunk of foam rubber hanging out from between the front LH wheel arch insert and the guard (disgraceful for what the car cost), it still has a boot leak after 6 attempts to fix it as well. I was supposed to take it back on the 6th of this month but I got called to Switzerland. I come home on monday and after long consideration I'm going to the lawyer instead. Just sick of being mucked around by these clowns my solicitor did some research and a 3 strikes and your out precedent has already been set more than once in civil claims in Melb.

I don't know how much time I've wasted with the car, and my time is money, but it has got beyond a joke and I'm not prepared to drive there and back another 4 or 5 times. Great car great drivetrain shame about the crappy build. No more Fords for me my company fleet, they just can't get the quality right.

more rattles:

Passenger side bonnet hinge needed some grease, it was a loud rattle that sound like it was coming from inside the A pillar.

Plastic mouldings along the bottom of the windscreen (covers the windscreen wipers and top of firewall) were rattling on the glass on rough surfaces, sounded like loose screws behind the instrument panel.

Creaky dash when cornering. Found it was slightly moving against the very top of the firewall next to the A pillar join. I stuffed a heap of foam up inside the top corners of each side to tighten it up. This seems to be a common problem with many ba-bfs.

Honestly, these rattles are not a big deal to fix, just hard to find. I could rant on how Ford should have built it better etc etc etc, but these are small things in a car that is such a joy to drive. Nothin is perfect, I would rather a small rattle than expensive engine problems.

Insanely busy mate - just got home from overtime tonight, and we're working tomorrow!

Gents, I am the current supervising engineer at the squeak and rattle department at Ford Broadmeadows. I am very interested in any FG or Territory issues that you guys have. Believe me, I would love to hear feedback from more customers on issues, outside of our usual means (NVQS and warranty), and and hopefully even speak with you further. For the BA-BF guys, I' sorry that was before my time, but I'd suggest asking dashturbo, as he was in the job then (sorry Dan!).

Please PM me for anything further (I'm sure there's a dozen company policies in danger of being smashed here lol)

I have that steady ticking in the LH front in my 2009 FG xr6t ute, but it comes and goes a bit, isn't very often or loud but annoying when it is there. Will have a look for carbon canister and see if a bit of foam will fix it!
