HAte to say this but I would think, (and I am sure there will be many to say that I am wrong) but chrome will actually increase the under bonnet temp and the air temp in the intake pipe, which will decrease power slightly.

I remember the increase in temp when I put chrome tappet coves on my cleavland.

I'm not saying that your wrong bcr01 because I don't really know myself but don't bright reflective surfaces like crome reflect heat were as black seems to soak it up.

Would be interesting to know if crome does create more heat under the bonnet though, anyone else know anything about this.

It (Chroming) isn't recommended for heat affected areas, I think Jeffers is of the opinion that the air will me moving very rapidly through these parts & won't suffer any real increase

Scotty

p.s. Looks hot as champ, pardon the punning

Highly reflective coatings such as chrome, stop heat getting through, and this can mean into or out of something. (This is particularly true of radiant heat [infrared] heat). If you want to stop (radiant) heat moving through something - reflective coatings are very good.

Black coatings have the opposite effect, they transmit heat very well - and this again can mean into or out of something. If you want heat to move through something, use a black coating.

The chrome on your tappet covers stopped the heat getting out and so the temps went up. (Though it could have just as easily stopped the heat form getting in if the engine bay was at a higher temp than the tappet covers.)

The chromed air intakes, will in theory, stop heating moving through them. If the engine bay is at a higher temp than the intakes, the chrome will retard heat moving into the intakes. [good]

If the intake air is hotter than the engine bay, it will stop the heat leaving the intake air. [bad]

If all this actually means anything on the road, well like most things you need to measure and test them.

Whatever - they look Hot. [good]

Thanks for the kind words guys the cost of it was $300 with this price o got all my braided hose fittings 24 carrot gold plated aswell..

There is alot of work in getting the pipework smooth then he polishes it all before chroming it..

More pics will come soon, I have a custom painted tappet cover with some airbrush work aswell...

it isnt the reflective coloring of chroming that makes the heat, its the thickness of the chrome dipping process that turns the piping into more of a conductor of heat than it used to be, to put it simply, the thicker it is the longer it will stay hotter and get to greater temps.

I dare say it would matter much, the air going thru there isnt exactly snail pace..
