Look Nicko, there's no use spinning around in the merry-go-round of discussing flywheel versus wheel horsepower.

One thing that is definitive is the fact that given identical vehicle mass, the greater the engine power, the higher the terminal speed (mph).

Would have been good to keep this thread on the topic of qtr times in a manual, rather than turning into another everyone vs everyone thread.

It was interesting reading and would have hopefully continued as us manual guys got better tunes and perfected our techniques and posted results and experiences, but once again it's turned into an off topic :blink: fight.

Another thread that I won't bother reading/following on an ongoing basis. :msm::msm:

Gee, what a shame.

Its interesting to note that you guys are saying that it is the FWHP that determines the terminal, and not the rear wheel. This has been my thoughts aswell, and why I was saying that, while the auto takes more effort to turn on a dyno, in the real world the usable power of both auto's and manuals is roughly the same. But clearly, the fact that the auto can stay on boost and that none of the manual drivers have the driveline strength to shift more brutally, down the quarter its a different story, as all the manual guys are losing speed with every shift (not maintaining, but losing)....

Anyways.... Would love to see someone fit up a Holinger to their T, that would make for an interesting drive....

Anyone remember the big Moroso wheel that racers used to hold close to their chests?

Ahh yes George...known amongst racers of the era as the 'Moroso Dreamwheel'

As we learnt back then to use it your were dreamin' the only way to do it was on the track!

yes I thought that most of the calculators were based on the wheel or slide calculators?

they must be dreaming too!!!

DW, you must understand that Macka's confusion was based upon the assumption that the resultant power figure was at the wheels. I don't for one second believe that Macka posted false information simply to provoke a response from APS - which is in all fairness, a post that is of benefit to all members who wish to learn more about the science of drag calculators.

I did not post this to start a :blush: fight I was just after some clarification.

Still as confused as before.

If Craig and Dean are producing 390 Flkw to produce a top speed of 120 mph which I might add are proven, no argument from me on that score.

Badxr has 450 Flkw yet still pulled the same mph.

With a slipping clutch and no doubt plenty of wheel spin could this effect the mph by that much. If what I'm lead to believe the power of the engine still somehow over comes these problems should'nt Bruces mph still be higher than Craig & Deans.

I only use these 3 cars as references as everyone is familiar with their cars and performances.

It's nothing personal, just trying to understand the statements made.

laws of physics dont add up do they it frustrats me as much as the next person

but will try some things next time to hopefully make it all seam right :blush:
