Posted 06/04/03 09:02 AM Share Posted 06/04/03 09:02 AM The wife and I have been looking for a ute as while theres no kiddies we can have a bit of fun cruising around. I was a Expensive Daewoo man until she pestered me to go to the local dealer and go and have a look. Boy was I impressed. I had a drive of a naturally aspirated XR6 ute and was stoked at how good the car was. The fit and finish was tops and it drove like a dream. Theres no way we're going back to a Late model camira that's for sure. We hope to order the ute sometime this month cash permitting but I tell ya theres no way we're getting a sh*tty Commodore Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/1551-converted/ Share on other sites
Guest JESMAL Guests Posted 06/04/03 09:04 AM Share Posted 06/04/03 09:04 AM Better late than never dude. Welcome to the blue oval. Tell you what, give the XR6Turbo a try, or even the XR8, and you'll never even want to be associated with Expensive Daewoo drivers anymore :D Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/1551-converted/#findComment-16100 Share on other sites
Guest Isher Guests Posted 07/04/03 07:56 AM Share Posted 07/04/03 07:56 AM I guess you could coun't me as a convert. While I have never beenone-eyed about it, I had always perfered Commodors prior to the BA. I don't think I perfered them over the Ford for any ration reason, I guess it just comes down to which car you dad drove when you were growing up and for me it was a 1972 Kingswood, hence the preference for GMH.When the AU was in the market I never even consided that a Ford was an option for me. Not that the AU is a bad car, just that I didn't like the look of it. With the BA that story changed. When I wen't looking for a new car I considered both the VY and BA, but the BA was simply just better and GMH have nothing that can compete with the XR6T for value. IMHO the new BA XR front is the best looking front on a locally produiced car I have ever seen... Drove the turbo at the dealers, and was hooked. Just gotta sell all my HSV clothes and hats!!!!!!! Guest gjconn Guests Posted 08/04/03 09:03 AM Share Posted 08/04/03 09:03 AM I can only say that you should drive the Turbo before you decide. I tried so hard to talk myself out of the turbo ute becasue it's really not necessary! Howver if you don't, you'll always wish you did. It is just that much better. And, if you are inclined, the XR8 in the ute is excellent value as well. In ute form, the XR8 is only about $1800 more than the T. (Sedans are about 5K more I think)I ordered mine in early Feb and delivery is estimated at the end of this month. It was one the dealer had allocated, but becasue it was not built yet I could specify my color and options.
