The noise you talk of sound more like an exhaust leak to me, either between the turbo and the manifold(most likely) or between the head and the manifold. I would be checking both, as best as you can, I know its pretty crouded down there.

Look for a black stain around the flanges. :stupid:

Got my car back from ford service at Peter warren (after 1 week with them)

and they have not idea what is causing the squeel/whistle sound. They agree that it is not normal.

Said they have to send a report to Ford and wait and see what they suggest.

Bit frustrating as its been 3 months with the problem and it seems down on power. And also that I want to get an edit done but wanted to get warranty issues sorted before I do that.

Is there anyway you can get a sound recording of it as this may help the more informed on here to provide a prognosis?

The other option may be to go ahead and get the edit as the tuner may be able to identify the problem. Dont worry about the warrenty as the edit wont cause an issue in this regard.

I have the same issue. My dealer has told me it is the alternator and used the excuse that if you stand outside a electricity generator, you will hear the same. It is because the alt is a heavy duty item, apparently! I have been in a number of T's from the dealership and they all do the same. It seems worse in the auto's.

If anyone cares I have something to add that I have noticed.

Before this problem If I sat at 3 grand in 2nd then gunned it when it got to 4,000rpm the thing would just shoot and go so hard (turbo fully spooled up and squeeling like it is supposed to), So from 3,000 to 4,000 it would pull and start to spool up and once it got to 4,000 the tacho would sling shot and car would go so hard

So now at that same point(4,00rpm), insted of the big rush I get this whistle sound

Also sometimes when I turn the engine off I hear this loud wind down bearing noise(lasts about 2 sec)

Also If I disconnect the Turbo Pipe I can a little bit of brown oil sitting on the edge near the fins

thanks

-->  More than likely from the air con.  Nothing to worry about.

-->  I'm yet to hear of one the hasn't had this.  Nothing to worry about.

thanks
