Really nice setup bud,

Couple a quick questions,

1. What is the rough price for cabling and building the box yourself. I am aiming for 2 Candence 12's.

2. I have the Premium sound with the sub. would the wiring do, that is already in there or should I get some better quality.

Cheers

Damo

it cost around $200 in material (carpets, glue, stanless steel, MDF, wiring, neon etc) then just the time to build it... I'm not math Genious, so I had my mate design the box in cubic feet to allow enough volume for the subs etc. The perspex I had but it cost another $50 to get shaved on the edges and holes drilled to suit the rear angle of the enclosure.

I have premium sound also, but have completely removed the factory sub as it's no good for any purpose, nor is the stock wiring.

I plan to re-wire the entire car with decent cables once I get the $$$ to do so :)

Is the parcel shelf relatively easy to take off to get the factory sub out? I assume you take all those clips out from the top and that's it?

The wiring for the factory amp is no good for when you upgrade. Best run new wires.

the parcel shelf is on a scale of one to ten about a 8 to get off... I didn't pull it completely off as I wasn't prepared to un-screw all the seatbelts .. so I just lifted the moulded bit off and screwed away... took around 30-40 minutes end to end...

and yeah like bob^ said... best to run new wires

mattson,

Could you tell me how you are wiring up the sub amp? Is this via line level convertors(speaker wires to RCA out) from the rear speakers or can you use these converters on the wiring from the factory sub amp.

Brett.

G'day Brett.

It's going to be wired from a line level convertor (off the factory speakers) into a Clarion 7 band EQ, which breaks into 3 rca channels, 1x front, 1x rear & 1x sub.

I'm using a rockford convertor also...

Ahh got the sub out in about 10 mins. If you take the rear most clips off closest to the window it makes things a lot easier, although the grille for the sub is very sharp!

Unfortunately it didn't make much difference. Need to take the carpet out from underneath the shelf and drill a heap of holes in it to help with bass entering the cabin.

Have you done something with the carpet underneath the shelf?
