'The Plug' can be had for about $20... easier and cheaper to get one posted out than take it to your APS dealer and get charged labour rates to uninstall it. But you loose the bit of loom that goes to the cars loom... If you want to sell it, you'll have to get it taken out completely..

I took one out of my car, only takes a short while, and solder all the wires back together. Be patient and do it right, good as new.

What is this plug and where is it available from?

Is it for the unichip that fits the BA.

I have an issue with Ford regarding a problem with my car and if I could temporarily remove the chip it could save some hassles if push comes to shove with Ford.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris my car has been into my dealers all the time and they have never picked up on the Piggyback unit (*Hits Head To touch Wood*)

They went over the car trying to find why it was running rich the other week and still did not find it!.

I would not worry too much, as if it is installed properly it looks completely factory with the unit hidden. :sleepystuff:

Ratt,

What boost controller ?

APS do not have one that I have seen.

Is the car a Phase 1,2 or 3?

The only underbonnet goodies APS install are:

Unichip plugin loom Ph1-3

Fuel pump (down under the engine on the chassis rail) Ph2

Blowoff valve Ph2>

Wastegate swingvalve Ph3>

Intercooler Ph3>

Injectors Ph1.5>

The only boost controller I can think of it the Capa Boost Box, but I do not know much about them....only they are crap.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Sorry I meant the plugin loom adapter.

Ratt, why don't you go over and see Spiro, I am sure he could sort you out ... especially with the business you send over to him

Cheers, Jason.

The plugin loom is easy to remove. The times I quoted were to remove the unichip and loom. There are 2 ECU bolts that hold the bracket, that hold the loom. As mentioned before the hardest thing was to remove the velcrow tabs that the loom is attached to. It is no harder to remove the whole Unichip as it is to give the car an oil change. Just be careful with the 3 ECU plugs, they are fragile, but if you are careful you will have no problems. I have done mine several times now.

If the unit is the same as the one I had umpteen years ago, and it should be....then it has a connector which plugs the harness to the unichip unit.. if u unplug the unichip it runs like a bag of poo. The plug is a small white receptacle which fits into the harness. If you speak VERY nicely to the APS dealer, they will get you one in. It is also good for testing your Unichip if you have a stock car with unichip fitted. We had to get one to proove a car fitted with said product LOST power when said unit was opererational in the car... ( tuner, not product at fault ) hey, the same tuner fitted a second hand unit to the car and charged full price!! how do we know, well each unit is registered to a car when bought.. We took it to another dealer, he looked up number, badda bing, my mates car turned into an STI... funny that..

You may have troubles getting one, but they are availble....

Yes, unichip comes with a boost controller, but it sits next to the unichip unit generally.. It has a small hose going into it to detect boost levels, and controlls the boost solanoid inside the engine bay..

Like I said, the physical chip is prolly the same.. the harness adapter would be different, but there should be a plug available for every harness combo....

:)
