Crikey Adam,

you've experienced more in your "T" already than I ever wish to!! The "EF" I bought in '94 was a car that couldn't stay away from trouble, 6 times in 4 1/2 years it got nailed by other people. First time, she had been mine for 3 months & we'd done 13,000 klms together including a trip to the summernats without a scratch. One night, when we lived at Redland Bay in a house Taxi's couldn't find, I got the old girl to drive with me to the train so as I could get into the city & get some "Hammer time" with the lads, we passed through the only set of lights on the way. Well of course bang went this Sigma into my drivers door, then bang went my Airbag (not a pleasant experience I can assure you.) Everyone OK barring my "F" for Fred, I did get to town & yes there was some serious Hammer time!

Good luck Adam & I'll see you on the next Brissy run.

Regards Scott Hogan.

Why did you have no drive at all, if it is in fact the CV joint?

I have confirmed the LSD does provide good forward drive with one wheel on the dirt, and that with minimal wheelspin.

Surely if the CV jount breaks, the XR6T would be drivable due to the LSD?

LSD's are not THAT effective. If you lose absolute drive to one wheel, you are basically screwed. Not that I recommend this - jack up one side of your car, put a chock under the front wheel and try to drive forward  - won't work.

If LSDs were that effective, there would be no need for diff locks for 4wd's.

You could probably drive ever so slowly on a level road with a broken axle but you would never want to do this as you would end up stuffing up the cones or the cluches in the LSD. that's why when you do burnouts with an LSD you should make sure both wheels are spinning equally and that both tyres are on similar surfaces and both tyres are in similar condition. Then you wont cause damage to it. If you have one wheel on bitumen and one on grass, when you floor it and the wheel on grass is spinning you are actually doing maximum damage to your LSD possible.

Ninka -

Alls I can say is that with one drive shaft busted, we had to push it. No power transferring to the groud at all. And it's a damn heavy mongrel to push. Was Me *second rower - league* my mate *front rower - union* and my sister steering and we were strugling soo much to push it up the little hill, had to call for re-inforcements.

Anyways didn't get my baby back today, the new drive shaft comes in tomorrow morning. So hopefully tomorrow arvo.

My turbo is making what seems like a cv joint "knock" coming from the right rear. Sounds like I'll be having that problem as well as the brake drama. When I had the 5th replacement(yes replacement) disc rotors fitted, there was an xr8 ute that was having its right hand rear axle replaced! Does'nt say much for the v8 drivetrain. Lets put it this way, I for one will NOT be buying a new Ford again. I'm a Ford "Man" but after the constant dramas with my turbo, the lack of action by the dealership, and the total lack of regard shown by Ford Customer Service, has left me totally disillusioned with Ford. How much money do you have to spend before thay treat you with any sort of commitment. Not a good effort at all Geoff! Any thoughts?
